Bummer: Democrats Are Being “Climate Hushers”

All except for Sheldon Whitehouse, who takes lots of fossil fueled flights, including a long one to Brazil for the last UN climate conference

Democrats are shying away from climate messaging. One of their own is fighting back.

One of Congress’ loudest climate hawks is trying to fend off a push within his party to abandon calls to combat climate change as left-leaning agenda-setters are plotting to reclaim both chambers of Congress in the midterms.

“There’s a thing out there called a ‘climate husher,’” Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, the top Democrat on the Environment and Public Works Committee, posted as part of a long social media thread last week.

“Anyone who cares about what fossil fuel pollution is doing to Earth’s natural systems needs to ignore these so-called ‘climate hushers’ — people who think Dems should stop talking about climate,” he said.

In a later interview about his posts, Whitehouse warned these “climate hushers” have also made their way into strategy conversations on Capitol Hill. He noted he’s been present for some of them, which he described as “polling presentations made to the Senate Democratic Caucus in a so-called strategy retreat that didn’t ask about climate change … There’s this massive blind spot.

Here’s the thing: their strategists know that most Democrat voters and some of the unaffiliated really do not care beyond the theoretical when it comes to anthropogenic climate change, especially when put against real issues. But, don’t mistake the “hushing” as them ignoring the issue: if they win the mid-terms they are going to push it hard with legislation. They will do everything possible to roll back what Trump obliterated. And you know there will be Squish Republicans who won’t stand strong. And if they win the White House in 2028? They’ll go nuts implementing their authoritarian cult programs.

Try to sneak it past election day and then bam! give it to the voters, good and hard!

It’s simple: they know that their ideas to fight global warming climate change would make working class Americans poorer, but the politicians aren’t working class, can easily afford the tremendous costs of their policies, and don’t really care that most Americans would be made poorer by them.

They are the American version of Hamas, not giving a f(ornicate) about all of the Gazans who would be killed, as long as they could strike their blow against Israel and the Jooooos they hate.

That is what is happening in Virginia now. All the democrats running as pro-law enforcement moderates before the election. Now that they have a slim majority in the assembly, the governor and the AG, Virginia is getting it good and hard. They are already pushing forward a bunch of laws that not a single elected official mentioned while campaigning. The previous governor left a budget surplus, but the new governor feels the state needs revenues from 15 new taxes including higher taxes on “yard maintenance equipment”, guns and ammo. Virginia is about to join California, New York, Minnesota, and Massachusetts for hard left policies. To save the climate, the new government is going to outlaw gas operated leaf blowers. The real reason though is that our new Governor is a gated community Karen who doesn’t like the sound of leaf blowers, so she is outlawing them for everyone.

Alexandria’s city council passed a ban to take effect Nov 2026. They cited noise and pollution concerns.

Governor Spanberger lived in Glen Allen, VA, outside of Richmond. What gated community did she live in there?

As Governor, Spanberger and her family have moved into the Executive Mansion in Richmond.

Outlaw the purchase of new ones, or ban the use of existing ones?

Fortunately the Old Dominion shares borders with several far more sensible states, so at least those Virginians who live reasonably close to the borders can avoid those taxes by buying in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Carolina.

The increasingly disturbed Mr Dana calls Democrats the “American version of Hamas” wanting to kill the “Jews they hate”. Curiously, the Jews that Dems “hate” vote overwhelmingly for Dems. BTW, the Gazans are hardly extreme CO2 emitters.

Does he feel/believe that the affordability crisis today is caused by the nation’s 1% per year drop in CO2 emissions?

And that’s something normal people just cannot understand! We get that American Jews are politically liberal, but Jews voting for Democrats is tantamount to chickens voting for KFC. If it gets much worse, the comparison will be to Jews voting for Adolf Hitler.

Does he feel/believe that the affordability crisis today is caused by the nation’s 1% per year drop in CO2 emissions?

Anything that increases costs contributes to less affordability.

It depends upon the state: California, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, and Hawai’i have some of the highest fuel taxes in the nation, and that’s a direct out-of-pocket expense. The Pyrite State has mandated rooftop solar panels on all new one-to-three-story residential buildings since 2020, increasing the price of those homes. You will claim that they’ll save that money on their electric bills, but remember: the additional costs get tacked onto the mortgage, so they’ll not only be paying for the solar systems, but the additional interest on them throughout the life of the mortgage.

In general, American Jews are more intelligent than the typical American conservative, so they vote based on a broader array of issues than typical American conservatives who vote for the white man who promises to enable white christian male domination.

You comparing American Jews to broiler chickens doesn’t help your case as much as you feel.

Wouldn’t America be so much better if white christian men ran everything just as the Founding Fathers intended. As smart as they were they couldn’t foresee the future where women and Blacks would clamor for human rights, that LGBTQs would leave the closet and immigrants would seek a life here. Although the Founding Fathers were illegal immigrants themselves! But they had “plans” for those red men here and the Black men they imported.
