CNN Says Top Republicans Briefed Before Iran Attack, But, Not Democrats

They think they’re on to something, but, it’s fake news

Trump administration briefed top Republicans before Iran strikes, but not some Democrats

President Donald Trump and his team were in contact with top congressional Republicans before his strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, but some key Democrats were not told of his plans until after the bombs had dropped, according to multiple people familiar with the plans.

The top two Republicans in Congress, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, were both notified of the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities ahead of time, according to multiple GOP sources.

People familiar with the matter initially told CNN that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries received notifications shortly before the public announcement — and after the attack itself.

See, they’re still running the article’s headline, but,

Correction: This story has been updated to make clear Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was called before the strike, not after as initially reported.

But after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt disputed that account, a source conceded that Schumer had been called around 6 p.m. – a little less than an hour before the strikes began – with little detail. He was told of imminent military action without naming the country in which the action was to take place, the source said.

So, unnamed sources giving bad information, and CNN still has the same headline and runs with the same first 3 paragraphs. The rest is primarily Democrats, and Thomas Massie, whining about this strike being un-Constitutional. If CNN had any journalistic integrity they would have killed the article. Or, at least, change the headline But, it’s all about the TDS.

Mr Teach seems really happy we have attacked another country in the Mid East
Iraq is already openly supporting Iran as well as Afghanistan, mrTrump’s peace partner

    • James Lewis says:

If U don’t understand that Iran has been/is plotting to kill us then U are ignorant.

    • Jl says:

Yes, Johnny-hairy-smith. It’s very good that we attacked and allegedly disabled Iran’s ability to make and use nuclear weapons. Is this concept too far over your head?

  2. Big Jymn says:

Actually; congress voted for a resolution; allowing Trump’s operation. The fact that the vote was made in secret; doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Just like whenever Obama launched an attack (some were on US citizens abroad). I say post the video of this chamber vote on You tube; so we can clear this matter (Democrat’s lies) once and for all.

What are the odds that the FBI were monitoring Messrs Schumer’s and Jeffries’ communications, to make sure they weren’t trying to warn Iran?

1925-1941: Reza Shah Pahlazi ruled the monarchy of Iran (Persia) and had instituted secular modernizations of the nation.

1941: To secure oil supplies during WWII, the British and Russians (fearing German influence) invaded Iran, deposing Pahlazi, who abdicated, turning Iran over to his 21 yr old son, Mohammad Reza Pahlazi.

1951: The Iranian Parliament elected secularist Mohammad Mosaddegh as Prime Minister and The Shah confirmed his election Mosaddegh was popular and introduced unemployment compensation, ended forced labor, taxed landowners and most importantly had called for the nationalization of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (British).

1953: The United States’ CIA and the U.K. ‘encouraged’ a coup d’état against Mosaddegh, and reinstated Mohammad Reza Pahlazi (The Shah) as the head of Iran.

1954: An agreement gave western oil companies 50% ownership of Iran’s oil production. Big Oil, with the U.S. and U.K., took Iran’s oil!

1957: The U.S. and Iran signed a nuclear energy agreement as part of U.S. President Eisenhower’s Atoms for Peace program.

1967: The U.S. supplied a nuclear reactor and enriched uranium to Iran, and trained Iranian scientists in the United States.

1974: The Shah announced he intended to build 20 new reactors!

1979: The Islamic revolution forced the Shah out and installed Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini in power. Iranian students attacked the U.S. Embassy and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. The U.S. ended the civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Iran who turned to Pakistan, China, and Russia to expand its nuclear program.

Late 1980s: In violation of the 1970 nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran began a secret uranium enrichment program, importing key equipment and material from Pakistan and China.

~2000: Iran started a weapons development program.

2002-2015: International efforts to curb Iran’s programs.

2015: Iran and six world powers (U.S., China, Russia, U.K., France, Germany + E.U.) developed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to 1) limit Iran’s nuclear activities, 2) increase transparency and expanding the scope of monitoring by the IAEA, and 3) in exchange for ending restrictions and sanctions on Iran.

For 13 years, Iran to eliminate its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium, cut its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%, and reduce by about two-thirds the number of its gas centrifuges.

For 15 years, Iran to enrich uranium only up to 3.67% and not to build heavy-water facilities.

For 10 years, uranium enrichment would be limited to a single facility using first-generation centrifuges. Other facilities would be converted to avoid proliferation risks.

Mar 2015: Forty-seven Republican senators, led by naive but ambitious freshman senator Tom Cotton (AR) posted an open letter promising that the next Republicun president would end the agreement.

2015-2018: The IAEA, along with the U.S., EU, Russia, and China, confirmed Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA’s key nuclear restrictions in the initial years after the agreement’s implementation.

2015-2018: The IAEA, along with the U.S., EU, Russia, and China, confirmed Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA’s key nuclear restrictions in the initial years after the agreement’s implementation.

2015-2018: The IAEA, along with the U.S., EU, Russia, and China, confirmed Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA’s key nuclear restrictions in the initial years after the agreement’s implementation.

May 2018: As promised by the Republicun senators, President trump withdrew the U.S. from the JCPOA, reinstating sanctions.

    2018: Iran restarted uranium enrichment.

2025: Israel and U.S. directly attacked Iran, bombing nuclear facilities – most Republicuns cheered. Iran reportedly possesses over 800 pounds of enriched uranium. There is a fragile cease-fire.

24 Jun 2025: In the hours before a cease-fire between Israel and Iran went into effect Tuesday morning, Tehran was pounded by the most intense and sustained airstrikes since the war started on June 13.

Jun 2025: On the TV, ‘newly anti-Semitic’ President trump claims Israel and Iran “don’t know what the fuck they’re doing”. Do the U.S. Republicuns “know what the fuck they’re doing”?

It’s unlikely that trump could plan ahead enough to foresee that his cancellation of the JCPOA would lead to his media ‘victory’, but the globe’s loss, today.

BTW, obviously both Israel, trump and the militaries knew that Iran had moved their nuclear materials out of the targets – otherwise they would have risked substantial and dangerous nuclear fallout throughout the region. They were careful NOT to bomb the sites holding the enriched uranium. This is all for show. The result will be a renewed JCPOA-like agreement.
