Three years left to limit warming to 1.5C, leading scientists warn
The Earth could be doomed to breach the symbolic 1.5C warming limit in as little as three years at current levels of carbon dioxide emissions.
That’s the stark warning from more than 60 of the world’s leading climate scientists in the most up-to-date assessment of the state of global warming.
Nearly 200 countries agreed to try to limit global temperature rises to 1.5C above levels of the late 1800s in a landmark agreement in 2015, with the aim of avoiding some of the worst impacts of climate change.
But countries have continued to burn record amounts of coal, oil and gas and chop down carbon-rich forests – leaving that international goal in peril.
Oh, OK, they’re hedging their bets on this one. “As little as 3 years.” Remember this?
Greta Thunberg tweeted in 2018 that humanity would go extinct within five years unless fossil fuel use was immediately halted. The prediction came from an article she shared, quoting a “top climate scientist.” By 2023, not only was humanity still here, but global emissions continued and population growth persisted. The tweet was later deleted. (snip)
Al Gore was paraphrased in a 2006 Associated Press article warning that if greenhouse gas emissions weren’t drastically reduced within 10 years, the Earth would reach a point of no return. That put the supposed deadline at 2016. But 2016 came and went without any irreversible cataclysm. Despite rising emissions, the global economy and climate remain intact. (snip)
The head of the UN’s climate panel stated in 2007 that if action wasn’t taken by 2012, it would be too late to stop catastrophic change. The claim was described as a defining moment in the fight against climate change. But no collapse occurred in 2012. The date came and went with minimal consequence.
Those are just a smattering of world is going to die from carbon pollution claims that never happened.

Mr teach is comparing apples to fish, citing a non-scientific collection of “failed” predictions, curiously not refuting that the Earth continues to warm rapidly. Since 1960 the Earth has warmed at 0.17°C/decade and the rate is accelerating. There is no scientifically-based reason to expect that rate to slow, but we can hope.
No, we Earthlings will not limit warming to 1.5°C. We’ll pass that (many measures show we already have). But big deal. In fact we’ll easily steam right past 1.5°C, past 2°C, probably past 3°C. Let our future selves deal with it, we’re too busy today.
If all “fossil fuel” use were stopped overnight, 90% of humanity would be dead in a month, 90% of the rest would follow within a year.
That will never happen anyway, the end game has zero to do with petroleum or coal or CO2 or any of that.
It’s about control. You vill eat zee bugs!

If we’re all doomed in three years, I would point out here that Donald Trump’s term has 3½ years remaining. Policy will not change.
Perhaps the Eurosimps will tax their people into oblivion, but we won’t.

The transition from fossil fuels to non-fossil fuel energy sources will continue, but slowly.

Of course, the 25% weakening of the Earth’s magnetosphere plays no role in “climate change.” Our “shield from the sun” is creating spectacularly cool Northern Lights when excessive radiation from the sun impacts Earth. This “solar forcing” increases pressure on the Earth, causes a rise in the number and severity of Earthquakes and is having a direct impact on air currents and weather patterns planet wide.
Never mind that the magnetic north pole is migrating south at an alarming rate coupled with the same rate from the south pole heading north. It is called the “flipping of the magnetic poles,” or more scientifically, a “geomagnetic reversal,” which is a change in the Earth’s dipole magnetic field such that the positions of magnetic north and magnetic south are interchanged (not to be confused with geographic north and geographic south).
These factors shouldn’t enter into anyone’s equation. The case against humanity is clear. It is man’s ‘soiling’ of the pristine, never changing condition of Mother Gaia that is the only culprit.
Man, with his diabolical conniving to invent massive machines that can heat homes in the winter and cool homes in the summer, who develops gas belching contraptions that suck the black essence of petroleum from Mother Gaia’s veins to power his wheeled vehicles vast distances and powers men in winged cylinders to fly high above Mother Gaia, all of these are the true culprits in raising Mother’s temperature a scant 1 degree Celsius.
Let troglodytes worldwide be warned: further debasement of Mother Gaia will not be tolerated. Mother’s faithful goony squad will huff and puff until they blow down every last vestige of modern civilization and return what’s left of their idiotic number to cave dwellers who fear making fires at night to stay warm.
Thatched huts mark “too much progress” for the “enlightened Gaia worshippers.” They are getting really mad and promise to hold their breath until mankind stops polluting them with reasoned logic and mature understanding.

Father Gaia (aka G_d) will not allow anything bad to happen to His Creation, therefore the cyclic shift in His magnetic shield does not and will affect anything as important as His global climate.
Even non-believer scientists agree that G_d’s weakening of tHis magnetic shield is not causing global warming.
This begs the question of why Father Gaia is warming His creation. But who are we to question His motives? Father Gaia gave us oil, gas and coal for a reason – we insult Him by questioning His wisdom.
Some astute Christians have suggested that His plan is to cause the Earth to warm to delay the next ice age, expected in 10,000 years or so. G_d has a plan. Trust Him.
