They couldn’t have done this weeks/months ago, before the who platform was erected? Why now? Also, why?
Hmm, I’m starting to get an idea of why. From the article
A federal lawsuit seeks to halt the upcoming UFC fight card on the White House South Lawn in a mixed martial arts show timed for President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and part of the celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The filing Saturday by the Public Integrity Project on behalf of two Virginia residents contends the Trump administration’s authorization of the June 14 event was unlawful. The lawsuit says such approval violated National Park Service regulations prohibiting sporting events on federal parklands, Congress did not consent to the towering arch overlooking the event space and no environmental review was conducted before the construction.
“This is fundamentally a private, commercial, corrupt use of our most sacred national monuments for private gain,” said Brendan Ballou, a lawyer for the plaintiffs. “And that is what is motivating this lawsuit.”
The White House said in a statement that the legal challenge was “an obstructionist, baseless, and dilatory” attempt to prevent Trump from hosting the fight and that the event was “no different than the various other White House-hosted events on the South Lawn and properly permitted events on the Ellipse and National Mall throughout the year.”
Personally, I think it’s garish and silly, and I have zero interest in MMA, but, it’s no big deal. Once it’s over the stage and stuff will be gone and things will be back to normal. The PIP is just losing it because Orange Man Bad. That’s it.
Crews are erecting an octagon-shaped cage on the South Lawn. Trump has said the finished UFC project will feature “a 5,000-seat arena right outside the front door of the White House.” Additional large screens broadcasting the fights will be set up in a park at the nearby Ellipse, and the UFC has said it plans to issue as many as 85,000 free tickets to accommodate spectators at both locations.
Maybe they’re upset that the tickets are free, and no Democrat group is making slush money off it? Nah, just Trump Derangement Syndrome.
(ESPN) The suit claims violations of park service regulations by allowing the event to occur, that the construction of the UFC’s claw stadium structure on the South Lawn needed congressional authorization because it is federal parkland, and that there was not an environmental review “before undertaking ‘major federal action’ significantly affecting the quality of the human environment.”
“We think that this is a profound misuse of our sacred national monuments for private gain,” said Brendan Ballou, the lead attorney for the Public Integrity Project. “And we think that needs to be stopped because it breaks the law.”
All excuses because of TDS, but, maybe there is a little bit there about not getting their cut?

Diaper Don is using government resources for his birthday celebration. Just another stupid, trashy Donny outrage. Why desecrate OUR White House for HIS birthday party? Hold it at his garish Mar-a-Lagp! Perfect.
If you’re a military member, you’ll need to meet strict fitness and appearance standards to get a free ticket, and you’ll have to cover your own travel and lodging.
Civilian tickets are extremely limited and reserved for high-profile guests, celebrities, and UFC-affiliated individuals.
Regarding the “free” civilian tickets… The UFC circulated a “partner investment” deck offering special access at a reported $1.5 million per. The reported package included access to a partner welcome reception, reserved press-conference seating, ceremonial weigh-ins, the Zac Brown Band concert, floor seats for UFC 329, and WWE event integration and ring signage. Not many working class UFC fans have $1.5 million to give away.
Regarding the lawsuit: A Trump administration official responded to the suit, calling it “obstructionist” and claiming that the fight card was “no different than other events hosted at the White House”. LOL. Really?
The Rimjob has unleashed his inner toddler.
Bwaha! Lolgf Loser!
MAGA47 Motherf7cker!
Maybe the next democratic party controlled house of representatives can impeach Trump for this.
Of course, the Parks Department has established rules for determining things like waivers to regulations. I wonder who might have the legitimate legal authority to grant such waivers? Any guesses?
Environmental impact statements for a temporary event with no lasting impact? Unless DC is demanding such things for every event, parade, and picnic, then this is obviously just obstruction.
Courts used to look at things like the standing of people to bring suit. What standing do two people in Virginia have to bring suit against activities happening in DC and on federal lands therein? But I guess orange man bad is the only legal precedent democratic party judges need.
Diaper Donny has highjacked the 250th Anniversary of the signing of OUR Declaration for his own partisan benefit, and on his birthday and not July 4th!!
The milestone anniversary of the Declaration of Independence should have been a nonpartisan national moment of reflection on our history. It could have and should have been a celebration of our survival and progress. It could and should have been a shared recommitment to building a nation in which democratic values are thriving, and the principles of the declaration and the promises of the Constitution are a reality for everyone in America.
Some of that is actually happening — in schools, communities and museums around the country. And some of those activities are sponsored by America 250, the organization created with bipartisan support from Congress a decade ago to lead the commemoration.
But that didn’t work for Trump, who is out to purge public conversation of anything that doesn’t make him feel or look great.
Among the projects backed by Trump’s Freedom 250 are an evangelical Christian religious revival tour and an event on the national mall that was dominated by Christian nationalists and other MAGA figures who supposedly “rededicated” America to God. Having the government sponsor those inherently exclusionary events sends the message that the only real Americans are a certain kind of MAGA-minded Christian, leaving out millions of Christians as well as people of other faiths and those without any religious affiliation.
We could be celebrating the freedom, peaceful pluralism and religious flourishing that the separation of church and state has allowed and encouraged.
After the event they should leave it up for a few weeks and instead of the Congressional Baseball Game just have CAGE MATCHES between the R’s and D’s! Imagine Adam “Pencilneck” Schiff vs Nancy “I’ll use it” Mace and then Hakeem “Dollar Store Obama” vs Lauren “Bobbitt” Boeburt! Or how about the entire SQUAD vs Lisa “The Louse” Murkowski? Someone with great AI abilities could make some awesome clips!
