Surprise: 186 Dems Vote Against Deporting Illegals Who Commit Fraud

It’s always been a deportable offense, this makes it very specific….but, um, shouldn’t simply being in the US illegally be a deportable offense?

Almost 200 House Dems vote against deporting people who commit welfare fraud

The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation Wednesday to crack down on illegal immigrants participating in welfare fraud despite fierce objections from most Democrats.

Lawmakers voted 231-186 to approve the Deporting Fraudsters Act, with 186 Democrats opposing the measure.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. David Taylor, R-Ohio, would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to explicitly define fraud as a deportable offense. Republicans said the legislation is necessary to ensure that noncitizens who steal taxpayer dollars are no longer eligible for immigration relief services or legal protections.

“If you admit to or you’re convicted of fraudulently receiving public benefits, you are out of here on the next plane and can never return,” Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., said Wednesday on the House floor.

It basically allows a shortcutting of the system, and would apply to (fake) asylum seekers.

Democratic lawmakers largely opposed the GOP-authored bill, arguing that noncitizens convicted of fraud are already eligible for deportation.

“Another week, another redundant and completely unnecessary immigration crime bill,” Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said during debate on the measure.

So, then it should be no big deal to vote in favor of the bill. But, Dems also yammer that it would mean the illegals wouldn’t have their day in court, with liberal judges doing all they can to keep the illegals in the US. And liberal prosecutors dropping charges.

One thing the Fox piece, and lots of other articles, are missing is that the Deporting Fraudsters Act mentions “aliens” multiple times, but, is not defining them specifically as illegal aliens, and the basic definition of an alien is any person not a citizen or national of the United States. This could, in fact, apply to anyone here on Temporary Protected Status, seeking asylum, even a permanent resident. They are not citizens or nationals.

And the wacko Democrats probably understand this, as it could be used to quickly deport all those given green cards and such, like the Somalians, who are NOT citizens. Of course, it would only apply to any caught committing fraud against the US government after the law was passed. But, the Democrats in the Senate will surely stop cloture, so, it will never pass and make it to Trump’s desk.

Non-citizens convicted of fraud are already eligible for deportation. This is just more mental masturbation by the Repubes.

William supports the deportation of all non-citizens, even if only accused.
