Remember when they referred to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as an “austere religious scholar”? Glowing obituary. Well, you ain’t seen nothing yet. First, though, this is what you are seeing from Iranians
And now
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, is dead at 86
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Shiite Muslim cleric who played a behind-the-scenes role in Iran’s Islamic revolution, served two terms as president in the 1980s and dominated the country for more than three decades as supreme leader, was killed Saturday as Israel and the United States launched a joint attack on Iran. He was 86.
President Donald Trump announced the death in a Truth Social post, calling the ayatollah “one of the most evil people in History.” He did not share additional details, but four Israeli security officials said Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in an Israeli airstrike at his compound in Tehran.
Trump didn’t share more details on the boom boom killing, or, on how evil he is? Never really sure with the far-left Washington Post.
An early follower of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the austere cleric who inspired the revolution against Iran’s U.S.-backed monarchy, Ayatollah Khamenei staunchly opposed the United States and Israel, rejected Western “liberalism,” and adhered strictly to fundamentalist social policies.
As supreme leader of Iran since 1989 — when he succeeded Khomeini — Ayatollah Khamenei wielded ultimate political and religious authority in the Islamic republic, outranking the elected president and overseeing the country’s armed forces, internal security apparatus, judiciary, state media and foreign policy.
Nothing so far about him lording over a brutal, murderous regime, one which supported terrorism throughout the Middle East, trying to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews via proxies, killing Americans in Iraq, killing other Muslims/Arabs in the ME, having women stoned, gays hung, and so much more.
He had the final say on a landmark July 2015 nuclear accord with six world powers, including the United States, that restricted Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the easing of crippling economic sanctions. Although deeply distrustful of U.S. motives, and despite the misgivings of fellow hard-liners, he ultimately endorsed the deal, and it was formally implemented in January 2016.
Hilarious. Makes the US out to be the bad guy, even though it was the Obama admin in charge. And then goes on to bad mouth Trump for pulling the US out of the agreement.
When Iran was convulsed by widespread protests after the September 2022 death in custody of a young woman who was arrested by Islamic “morality police” for a dress-code violation, the supreme leader publicly blamed the United States and Israel and backed a deadly crackdown. How, he wondered, could some people “not see the foreign hand” behind the “rioting.”
Fucking seriously? This is what the WP writes? Nothing about this being due to Khamenei’s hardcore Islamist polices?
With his bushy white beard and easy smile, Ayatollah Khamenei cut a more avuncular (WT: they mean like a nice uncle) figure in public than his perpetually scowling but much more revered mentor, and he was known to be fond of Persian poetry and classic Western novels, especially Victor Hugo’s “Les Misérables.” But like the uncompromising Khomeini, he opposed moderates’ efforts to promote political and social reforms domestically and to secure rapprochement with the United States.
This is purely unhinged.
In the third decade of his rule, Iran became increasingly repressive, especially after security forces crushed demonstrations against the disputed 2009 reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Beyond this bit of crushing, it takes a long time to the obituary gets into him being a big meany towards Israel and the US, but, not in depth. They seriously whitewash his life. This is an insane piece.
But, then, most Democrats who read it are going to take the side of Khamenei and the Iranian regime over the US and the Iranian people yearning to be free, because that’s how Trump Deranged they are.

Liberal tears are making their hot-pockets soggy. So sad.
Teach has always been a big fan boi of wars in the nicest. He advocated for the Iraq and Afghan wars. The Iraq war changed Iraq from being Khameni’s biggest enemy into being his supporter. Afghanistan? Teach expected a different ending that was impossible to change. Now he cheers for the new ear. This time with a country that is 4 times as big in area as Iraq with twice the population.
There are many different groups in opposition to the current Theran gov. From ISIS to pro US groups. From ultra right wing monarchists to homegrown communifyd. We saw in Iraq how difficult it is to restore stability in a fragmented country
Opposing the attack on Iran, which I do, is like opposing capital punishment, which I also do. Intellectually it is right, but defending the Islamist government is like defending the worst and most savage or murderers. It will be great to see government fall, even if I don’t like how it was done.
Mr Dana “getting his head right” with another of his Mad King’s foolish adventures.
Many nations are currently afflicted with dictators: e.g., Hungary, North Korea, China, Syria, Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Eritrea …Iran… Nicaragua, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
King Donnie has many flaws, but being overly concerned with the future is not one of them.
Why bomb, bomb, bomb… bomb, bomb Iran? Their “oh-bliterated” nuke program? Their missiles? Innocent Muslims being abused by their government? Regime change?
Donnie Demento was pushed Israel and the Saudis (foreign influence!) to attack. Our military and intel agencies were opposed.
What’s next?
Remember in 2012 when then civiliam Trump repeatedly predicted that President Obama would invade Iran because of low poll numbers? Good times.
“Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin – watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.”
On January 17, 2012, Trump wrote on social media that he believed Obama would “attack Iran in order to get re-elected.”
Oct 2012, he warned the GOP not to “let Obama play the Iran card in order to start a war in oder too get elected–be careful Republicans!”
Trump predicted that Obama would attack Iran, claiming he would do so to “save face,” or “because of his inability to negotiate properly” or to “show how tough he is.”
JD Vance: “Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran,” he wrote. “It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.”
“I still feel guilty for supporting the war.”
Vance said Trump’s opposition to the Iraq war was the “most significant” contributor to what changed his mind about the president, whom he had once fiercely opposed and suggested could become “America’s Hitler.”
Anyway, despite citizen Trump’s warnings, President Obama was re-elected in a landslide. Note too that your Mad King’s poll numbers are lower than Obama’s.
I’m not sad Khamenei is dead. I just wish it had been the Iranian people that had killed him and dragged his body through the streets of Tehran.
I’m not thrilled that the US had to get involved. I prefer a more isolationist foreign policy; one where we act with force only when the threats to our people are clear and imminent. I’m happy for the Iranians, but the world needs to quit treating us as their rescuer. Clean up your own messes.
The lack of clarity comes when we were historically part of the cause of the mess their country had become, because we have long meddled in too many other countries affairs in ways we would be rightfully outraged if they had done it to us.
But yet, not even a hint of criticism for trump.
