Democrat Candidates Debate Immigration In NC, Answers Are Unsurprising

They really just do not get what a majority of Americans want. Nor do they care. They’re just playing to their unhinged base, even though the 11th district is the far western tip of NC

5 Democratic candidates for NC’s 11th District debate border security, immigration

On Tuesday, March 3, voters from both parties will head to the polls to choose their party’s nominees in several key races across North Carolina.

One of the most closely watched races is for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, which represents much of western North Carolina.

To help voters better understand where the Democratic candidates stand, each was asked the same five questions on issues important to western North Carolinians. This week’s coverage highlights one question per day.

The first topic: Border Security and Immigration

Jamie Ager focused on constitutional concerns in his response. He said the country needs clarity in its border policies and criticized what he described as troubling behavior by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the current administration.

Ager emphasized the importance of due process and the rule of law. He said immigration enforcement officers should be clearly identified and operate within constitutional boundaries.

Same old same old. Funny how Democrats weren’t complaining when Obama was simply catching and deporting, eh?

Lee Whipple emphasized the need for congressional action, stating that immigration reform must come through legislation. He voiced full support for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and for legal pathways that allow people to come to the United States to work.

Whipple also said he supports creating pathways to citizenship, but stressed that Congress must take responsibility for passing clear and effective immigration policy.

Obviously, congressional action wasn’t necessary to shut the border. And, amnesty! Shocker

Paul Maddox said he supports what he calls a “controlled border,” but not a closed one. He argued that immigrants play a vital role in the country’s future and economic growth.

Maddox pointed out that most Americans are descendants of immigrants and suggested it is hypocritical to deny opportunities to others seeking to come to the United States today.

So, shut the border like Biden? Those immigrants came in mostly through legal means.

Richard Hudspeth strongly criticized current immigration enforcement tactics, calling what he sees happening in the country “abhorrent.” He expressed concern about what he described as government-sponsored military-style actions in cities, arguing that such approaches conflict with the nation’s founding principles.

Hudspeth said he believes borders should not be open or closed, but rather, controlled. He supports what he calls a more “humane, charitable, valuable” immigration program. He argued that the issue is not being effectively addressed by the current administration or by the district’s current representative in Congress.

Yes, it’s abhorrent to detain illegals for deportation per federal law, right? Not really sure what he means by human etc. In my mind that is more work permits, that are monitored heavily. Where employers pay for health insurance and such for the migrant workers

Zelda Briarwood said she supports comprehensive border control and believes serious dialogue is needed around immigration policy. However, she emphasized that she views current enforcement practices as inhumane.

Briarwood argued that immigration enforcement should focus on removing violent criminals rather than targeting broader groups of people. She expressed concern that enforcement agencies are being used in ways that create fear among communities.

We have comprehensive border control. The Trump admin did this with the existing laws on the books. As for criminals, if sanctuary jurisdictions would give them up there would be less chance of the less criminal illegal getting caught up in sweeps. They’re still going to get caught here and there, because they are in the country illegally.

As for fear, well, yeah. It’s worked. The fear is that they will get caught, detained, and deported. It works.

No one is surprised that not one of the Democrats said “they’re here illegally. We need to stop this”, right?

Only an immigration court can determine the legality of an alien.
    Not Trump
    Not Teach

NC is becoming more blue each week as Trump goes clinically insane

Historically Teach was always afraid of Sleepy Joe becoming a dictator, as well as Obama
    Trump? Not do much now

It’s unsurprising that William supports what 65% of Americans oppose.

He ignored what Democrats are saying: We need comprehensive immigration reform. Yoohoo, Congress.

He lied (which is his preferred mode of communicating) saying his Federal police, his goons and thugs were going after the worst of the worst – brown people who sexually assaulted underage girls, murdered, raped and robbed. Instead, he is terrorizing all Hispanics in the U.S., including school children, their moms and their dads. His billionaire “donors” have lobbied to keep the Federal thugs away from Big Ag sites and Meat-packing plants. Money talks!

Your Mad King cares little about the law. He is using your white nationalist preference to keep you “enthused” for him.

Donnie’s loyal supporters say America must fully enforce EVERY law! Except speeding, child sexual assault, fraud, driving without a seatbelt, tax avoidance, consumer protection violations, money laundering, federal employee bribery and graft, Hatch Act violations.

This is hard to admit, but some election shenanigans have been uncovered in Georgia regarding the 2024 election.

“In October 2024, the Georgia secretary of state’s office launched an investigation after receiving numerous reports from residents across several counties saying they’d received partially prefilled absentee ballot applications.”

“America PAC had also failed to display in a conspicuous location that this was not an official government publication, was not provided by the government, and was not a ballot.”

BTW, America PAC was started by Elon Musk to support trump. Just another immigrant trying to illegally influence our elections.

Weird huh that most election fraud involves Republicans.
