People’s Republik Of Illinois Considering A Polluter Pays Bill

If they really cared the state would shut down the airports and ports, restrict citizens from driving fossil fueled vehicles. Instead, they’re trying a shakedown, which will probably get killed in court

Amid National Call to ‘Make Polluters Pay,’ Illinois Lawmakers Are Prepping a Climate Change Superfund Bill – Inside Climate News

Illinois lawmakers plan to introduce a climate change superfund bill in the state legislature this session, the latest in a growing number of states seeking to make fossil fuel companies pay up for the fast-growing financial fallout of climate change.

As the costs of global warming rise—in the form of home insurance premiums, utility bills, health expenses and record-breaking damages from extreme weather—local advocates are increasingly pushing states to require that fossil fuel companies contribute to climate “superfunds” that would support mitigation and adaptation.

Illinois state Rep. Robyn Gabel, who will introduce the bill in the House, said she is motivated by the growing threat of flooding and heat waves in the state.

“The costs with climate change are going to be extravagant, and it’s going to end up on the backs of the taxpayers, and the oil companies continue to walk away with huge profits,” said Gabel, an Evanston Democrat. “Polluting companies should be responsible for the damage they cause.”

Advocates will rally on Thursday morning in Chicago to support what’s known as the “Make Polluters Pay” effort as part of a national week of action, with climate activists and disaster survivors holding events across the country, including in Connecticut, Colorado, California, New Jersey and Maine. Two states—New York and Vermont—have already passed climate superfund laws.

Yeah, it’s really a slush fund, nothing more, and all the costs will be passed on to the users. Have fun, Illinois people, you voted for this.

Democrats and Republicans alike hope that the voters are too stupid to realize that taxes on corporations are simply passed down to their customers as a part of the costs of doing business. Given that 75,017,613 million Americans were stupid enough to vote for Kamala Emhoff, they just might be right.

Mr Dana typed: “Democrats and Republicans alike hope that the voters are too stupid to realize that taxes on corporations are simply passed down to their customers as a part of the costs of doing business.”

Of course, the reality of corporate taxes is not as Mr Dana, “explains”. The ansswer is not so simple.

Next, he’ll claim that American consumers pay the import taxes aka “tariffs”, even though the Mad King claims China et al pays them directly to America treasury!!

Corporate taxes are “paid” by shareholders, consumers and workers.

“Shareholders bear most of the corporate income tax burden, but they aren’t the only ones. Over time, others bear some of the burden because of a chain reaction that begins with the shareholders.”

This does NOT to imply that U.S. corporate taxes are optimal, effective or even wise.

Vineyard Wind construction was halted by Pedophile in Chief Trump despite it was already producing power and was 95% complete. Yesterday a Fed Judge removed that presidential order and construction immediately began. Vineyard Wind currently provides about 10% of the MA power. It is designed to power 25% when finished. It took less than 3 years to be 95% finished.

Vineyard Wind 2 started in 2024 has been halted by Trump. It was designed to provide power to an addition 20% of MA hones. Contract price was to buy at 7.4 cents per kwh for 20 years. That is about 1/3 the residential cost in MA
