I don’t think the Christian Science Monitor is getting the right picture of this
Trump sees a ‘con’ in climate change. Xi sees cash.
More than 40,000 delegates from nearly 200 countries are getting down to work this week in the Brazilian city of Belém, on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, for what is looking like an increasingly forlorn task: to slow and mitigate the overheating of our planet. (scam)
And no nations matter more than two energy superpowers with diverging interests, and with increasingly divergent approaches to climate change: the United States and China.
U.S. President Donald Trump recently branded climate change “the greatest con job ever.” He has been scaling back former President Joe Biden’s green-energy subsidies, doubling down on America’s world-leading production of oil and gas, and he is ignoring the Belém conference.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping is making a very different economic bet.
I wonder what that could be
For while China remains by far the world’s largest emitter of the fossil-fuel gases driving global warming, Mr. Xi’s government has been investing hundreds of billions of dollars in solar and wind energy, storage batteries, and electric vehicles.
That technology is not just for domestic use, though it is already having an effect on emissions in China.
It is also for export, to generate the trade revenue on which China’s economy depends.
Crucially, that has begun giving less-developed countries in the so-called Global South something almost unimaginable a few years ago: a realistic path toward growth that need not rely principally on carbon-emitting fuels.
In other words, China is conning the climate cranks of the world and dumping all the solar panels, wind turbines, EVs, etc. Products with all sorts of spying and controlling software, while also earning influence in the South, especially Africa. If the CSM thinks Xi gives a crap about ‘climate change’, they should just shut down. Like Al Gore and so many Warmists Xi is using the scam as a cash cow.

Last year 80% of Chinas new electricity came from renewables
Last year 90,% of the new electricity came from renewables
That Al Gore !!!! Such a prankster tricking China to generate so much renewable power .
Natural gas prices used for electrical generation surged 40% from 2024 to 2025. Renewable energy costs are less than new natural gas electrical generation costs. Natural gas prices are expected to continue to go up. Unless demand drops.
Johnny-then why are they still subsidized?
3.8 trillion spent on renewables in the last 10 years causing fossil fuel power to drop 1% worldwide. Not too good a track record
I don’t believe you.
