California expands privacy protections as Democratic-led states resist Trump’s immigration agenda
Immigrants selling food, flowers and other merchandise along the sidewalks of California will have new privacy protections intended to keep their identities secret from federal immigration agents.
The measure, signed into law this past week by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, comes on the heels of other recently enacted state laws meant to shield students in schools and patients at health care facilities from the reach of President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement actions.
Democratic-led states are adding laws resisting Trump even as he intensifies his deportation campaign by seeking to deploy National Guard troops to Democratic-led cities to reinforce U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers who are arresting people suspected of being in the U.S. illegally. California’s street vendors typically need permits from cities or counties. The new law prohibits local governments from inquiring about vendors’ immigration status, requiring fingerprinting or disclosing personal information — name, address, birth date, social media identifiers and telephone, driver’s license and Social Security numbers, among other things — without a judicial subpoena.
The law, which will take effect Jan. 1, was prompted by concerns that vendor databases kept by local governments could be accessed by federal immigration agents to target people for detention and deportation.
All information on street vendors who are illegals must be destroyed by March 1, 2026, by local authorities. I wonder if they have to do this for American citizens?
Additional laws recently signed by Newsom add immigration status to a list of protected medical information and prohibit schools from granting access to immigration enforcement officials without a court warrant. Another new California law directs schools and higher education institutions to immediately notify staff and students or parents when immigration officials are on campus.
Democrats will do anything to protect illegal aliens, even if it violates federal law. Also, federal agents do not care. They’re still going to arrest illegals.

Portland Naked Bike Riders Protest Trump Admin Immigration Enforcement
Protesters in Portland, Oregon, organized an “emergency” edition of the city’s annual World Naked Bike Ride on Sunday to demonstrate against the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies.
The event, which typically occurs during summer months, was hastily arranged in response to President Donald Trump’s attempts to mobilize the National Guard to address ongoing protests in the city.
Riders cycled through Portland’s streets in various states of undress, despite steady rain and mid-50-degree temperatures, ultimately converging at the city’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building.

You know what ‘street vendors’ do? They conduct as much of their businesses as possible in cash, meaning that they have much more opportunity to under-report their income.
I, of course, support people doing their business in cash, and under-reporting their income as much as possible. Income should not be taxed, and the Sixteenth Amendment repealed. We should only be taxed per person, the same amount for everybody.
That is just silly.
How much should each person be taxed? Each person or each adult? How about retirees?
Total gov spending at all levels in 2023 was just over 10.7 TRILLION – fed, state, local.
Let’s cut total spending in half – slash Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid but leave the Ministry of War and DHS alone or even invest more.
5 TRILLION divided by 330 million = $15,000 per person
So Elon should pay $15,000 and a family of four, an accountant, stay at home mom and two teens should pay $60,000 on dad’s $80,000 income? You do like riots don’t you?
