Pope Leo rebukes climate skeptics after Trump calls warming a ‘con job’
Pope Leo XIV denounced people who deny climate change on Wednesday, arguing that they are contributing to the destruction of God’s creation.
“Some have chosen to deride the increasingly evident science of climate change, to ridicule those who speak of global warming and even to blame the poor for the very thing that affects them the most,” Leo said.
The pope’s comments come just a week after U.S. President Donald Trump, in a speech at the United Nations, called climate change “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.” On Tuesday, Leo made a direct foray into U.S. politics, defending the Chicago Archdiocese’s decision to honor Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat who supports abortion rights.
“I think it’s important to look at the overall work that a senator has done,” said the pope, a Chicago-area native.
“Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion,’ but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life,” he added. “Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”
That’s a lot to unpack. This is the same pope who has talked about bringing people together, but, he treats people who are climate skeptics, meaning they believe the current warm period is mostly caused by nature and localized issues like land use and the urban heat island effect, not the mythical and unscientific “carbon pollution”.
And then to defend Durbin, who is a massive supporter of abortion on demand like that? Sad. And against Catholic teachings.
The pope was speaking on Wednesday at a conference commemorating the 10-year anniversary of Laudato Si, a 2015 formal doctrinal letter issued by his predecessor, Pope Francis, that called for the protection of the planet, including the fight against climate change.
“We cannot love God whom we cannot see while despising his creatures, nor can we call ourselves disciples of Jesus Christ without participating in his outlook on creation and his care for all that is fragile and wounded,” Leo said.
Leo is not speaking as a defender of God’s creation: he’s speaking as a high ranking member of the cult of climastrology.
(The Daily Sentinel) Pope Leo XIV urged people Wednesday not to resign themselves to the global crisis of climate change but play an active part in stopping it, at an event with “Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“There is no room for indifference or resignation,” Leo told environmental experts and campaigners from around the world gathered at a climate conference near Rome.
Did Leo say anything to Arnold for taking a long fossil fueled flight, almost halfway across the world?
US-born Pope Leo, who was elected head of the Catholic Church in May following Francis’s death, said it was time for “everyone in society… (to) put pressure on governments”.
“Citizens need to take an active role,” he said.

We’re having a Care for Creation celebration at our parish on Saturday, not a Catholic Mass, but bringing together people from many faiths concerning the actions that we, as a Diocese, are taking. They are all voluntary, which I completely support; my opposition has been to government mandating such.
As it happens, the LED bulbs we installed in the kitchen during the renovation, in 2018, have finally started to fail, so I replaced them with new, LED bulbs. Maybe we’ll get another seven years out of them!

why is it you despise climate change so much? theres so so so many more important things to worry about Zionists, European and American illegal immigrants, controlled opposition, etc. i feel as if, theres alot of lies about climate change but it so unimportant as most of it is scientifically proven even if most of those scientists are faggots and jews. Ive been reading your posts about various other political topics and, i agree with you alot but i just don’t understand these schizoid climate rants even after reading 75% of the climate change “data” tab. just wondering as ive been silently reading.
The internet would a boring place if every web site specialized in only Jews. Climate change has been the primary focus of this blog since I discovered it a long time ago. If you would prefer a blog that only focuses on what you think is important enough, I encourage you to start such a blog and use your creative control to your heart’s content.
I can’t believe that in the 21st century there are still people who take religion seriously. A load of fairy tales and morality plays to control populations and make money.
Socialism killed 100 million people in just the 20th century and people still believe in that. At least the money spent on religion is voluntary.
But you are essentially right. Anything that teaches there is a moral code and that killing and stealing are inherently wrong has no place in the modern world.
