E.P.A. Is Said to Draft a Plan to End Its Ability to Fight Climate Change
The Trump administration has drafted a plan to repeal a fundamental scientific finding that gives the United States government its authority to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions and fight climate change, according to two people familiar with the plan.
The proposed Environmental Protection Agency rule rescinds a 2009 declaration known as the “endangerment finding,” which scientifically established that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane endanger human lives.
That finding is the foundation of the federal government’s only tool to limit the climate pollution from vehicles, power plants and other industries that is dangerously heating the planet.
Sigh. CO2 is not a pollutant.
The E.P.A. proposal, which is expected to be made public within days, also calls for rescinding limits on tailpipe emissions that were designed to encourage automakers to build and sell more electric vehicles. Those regulations, which were based on the endangerment finding, were a fundamental part of the Biden administration’s efforts to move the country away from gasoline-powered vehicles. The transportation sector is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States.
The draft proposal could still undergo changes. But if it is approved by the White House and formally released, the public would have an opportunity to weigh in before it is made final, likely later this year.
Well, I hope they dot every i and cross every T, following the specific manner to pass a regulation/rule, so, it gets killed off properly. But, you know some wacko lefty batguano insane judge will still rule that the Trump admin cannot do this, despite Congress having passed no specific law that requires it. And it will end up at the Supreme Court yet again, where the Court will find that the federal district judge is wacko and should be ignored with prejudice. The Clean Air Act was not about CO2, it never specifically mentions it, and CO2 is not a pollutant. The EPA just declared it under Obama in 2009 because they felt like it.

Under the Obama and Biden administrations, with CO2 emissions being the focus, fossil fuels in general and coal in particular were hammered by this regulatory cudgel.

The United States has the world’s fourth largest recoverable coal reserves. It would be more than foolish to just leave it in the ground.

Humans stopped burning wood for energy, even though wood was a renewable resource, readily available. Coal supplanted wood because it burned hotter and more consistently than wood.
Natural gas supplanted king coal for a reason – cheaper and cleaner.
Solar power will supplant gas for the same reason. Sunlight is NOT a fossil fuel and scientists estimate we will not run out for 8 billion years. Whew.

Sunlight is nearly permanent. Solar energy is not. Solar panels have an average lifespan of 20 years and start to degrade (produce less electricity) long before then. Those panels go to a landfill get replaced by new ones using materials that get mined from the Earth… just like coal. So anyone considering a solar solution should do the math and amortize the investment over the expected life of the product, offset by the benefit of the electricity gained.

The UN just issued a ruling that allows countries to sue each other over climate change.
So expect the USA to be sued by about 175 nations. I mean…free money is what the left is all about, and most of the countries, except for about a couple of dozen or so are moving so far left that they would sue their own mothers if they could get any more blood from that shriveled up turnip.

Too much of any chemical in the environment can be considered a pollutant.
Oxygen is necessary for life, but if atmospheric O2 doubled (~42%), humans and the Earth would be in big trouble.
Na, Cl, Fe, Mg, Ca, Co, K, Mn, Zn, I, S, Mo, Cu etc are all necessary for mammals but too much NaCl on a farm field is pollution.
So the whole of human social evolution took place with CO2 between 180 to 300 ppm. Tuesday it was – Jul. 22, 2025 = 427.51 ppm. And it has been rising at an average of about 2.6 ppm per year. The increase in CO2 is NOT natural but is a proven result of we humans burning fossil fuels – coal, oil, gas.
Of course, the argument would be moot if atmospheric CO2 was not causing global warming. And the argument would be moot if global warming was not causing problems to humans.
And the argument would be more mute if there was verifiable evidence CO2 was causing the warming and that it’s a problem for humans…
And since the rise of CO2, has the human condition on the planet improved? Of course it has.

We’ll all be dead relatively soon, and our grandkids and great-grandkids can adapt. Earthlings will eventually transition to solar, fission and fusion energy anyway.

While there are precious few climate scientists who signed the CLINTEL proclamation there are tens of thousands climate scientists who did not. It is general scientific conduct to make your arguments, not by signing a declaration of your opinions, but with scientific studies.
Anyway, 99% of actual climate scientists conclude tha CO2 is causing the Earth to warm.
