You probably don’t think about climate change as you butter your toast. But behind every slice of bread, there’s a crop that’s increasingly under threat. From the rice paddies of South Asia to the highlands of Latin America and the drylands of Africa, farmers are tackling the challenges posed by climate change head-on and CIMMYT is supporting them every step of the way. In Asia, farming communities are experimenting with new methods of growing food that protect their soil and water. In Bangladesh and Nepal, for example, digital tools are helping farmers to make climate-smart choices by blending tradition with innovation.
Across Africa, smallholder farmers are improving soil health and adapting to unpredictable weather patterns. Agriculture.

Agriculture is certainly under threat in general and can be a difficult way to make a living, many that try farming as a profession fail. Weather and location play a major role but Monsanto, .gov and the commodities markets present more and greater problems for farmers. CO2 is not the villain here.
And yet, from Pennsylvania to Montana, the USA is uninterrupted farm land that manages to stay in business every year. If anything, the biggest problem with farming is that it is hard work and younger men simply don’t want to do it. Older farmers don’t have sons who are willing to inherit and continue the farm.
CO2 is not a villain, it’s just two oxygen atoms double covalently bonded to a single carbon (O=C=O).
CO2 IS causing the planet to warm, and to warm unequally. The impacts on agriculture are related to the predictability of rainfall and temperaure trends. Our government is committing unforced errors by harassing farmers and farm-workers. Most of our foods are not made in a facory but come from agriculture.
Since we voted not to address climate change, we will have to adapt.

Think about global warming every time a tornado sweeps through Missouri, KY, Mississippi, Alabama, Ohio and Georgia.
Since we Americans voted to stop all efforts to address global warming we will need to adapt to save lives and dollars. DO NOT build child camps along flooding rivers. Floridians must move inland or forego our tax dollars. Californians need to clear cut forests close to communities. New Orleans, Houston and Galveston must be abandoned. New construction must be made tornado resistant WITH safe lower levels.
We cannot avoid all or even most tragedies but we can mitigate some of the outcomes.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act did not increase funds for these actions. FEMA is being eliminated.
Using a massive tragedy and the deaths of little girls to try and score political points is about as bad as it gets.
