Education Secretary Linda McMahon told California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday that he will be hearing from Attorney General Pam Bondi after the state was found to be in violation of Title IX.
The California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) rejected the U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights’ (OCR) proposed resolution agreement following transgender athlete controversies in high school athletics over the course of the school year.
Linda McMahon shared CDE general counsel Len Garfinkel’s letter to OCR regional director Bradley R. Burke on Monday.
“The California Department of Education (CDE) received the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights’ (OCR’s) June 25, 2025 Letter of Finding and Proposed Resolution Agreement in the above-referenced OCR matter,” the letter read.
“The CDE respectfully disagrees with OCR’s analysis, and it will not sign the Proposed Resolution Agreement.”
Hmm. If the People’s Republik Of California wants to do their own thing perhaps they shouldn’t have taken all that federal money for their schools, which means that Los Federales can dictate policies. Perhaps they shouldn’t be so gung ho to keep the Education Department, which gives whomever is in the White House the ability to make these kinds of demands. Of course, what is the Trump Education Department demanding? That biological males with gender delusions stop competing in sports against real women. That they not be in female locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms
Additionally, “The CDE will issue a Notice to all recipients of federal funding (Recipients) that operate interscholastic athletic programs in California requiring them to comply with Title IX. This will specify that Title IX and its implementing regulations forbids schools from allowing males from participating in female sports and from occupying female intimate facilities, and that Recipients must adopt biology-based definitions of the words ‘male’ and ‘female.’
Take their money away.
Our good friends on the left cheered when the Supreme Court let stand a lower court ruling, in Lozano v City of Hazleton, that only the federal government has any power over immigration, invalidating a Hazleton, Pennsylvania ordinance which prohibited landlords from leasing to immigrants who could not prove their legal status.
Note that the wording mentioned not just the law, but “the Executive Branch’s enforcement and policy priorities”, meaning that if the Feds were not going to enforce the law, the states and localities could not choose to do otherwise.
But now we have states and localities who want to allow the federal government to enforce federal laws which have been on the books for many years, because “the Executive Branch’s enforcement and policy priorities” have changed. We voted for this! Illegal immigration has been President Trump’s main issue all along, and he has twice been elected President of the United States. President Biden tried to push through an amnesty law, but our elected representatives chose not to enact it, which means that the elected representatives of the people of the United States were satisfied with the laws that were already on the books.
So now we have our good friends on the left whining that Mr Trump is an [insert slang term for the anus here], a complete meanie-hoonie, sending ICE and other law enforcement agencies to actually enforce our immigration laws, arresting poor, poor immigrants who are only here to work for their families, doing jobs Americans won’t do. How odd it is that those same people on the left were utterly aghast that President Trump pardoned the Capitol kerfufflers, screaming that the President was letting these wicked evildoers get away with breaking the law, even though most of those pardoned had already been punished, already served their sentences.
And now we have the Pyrite State, wanting to not obey federal directives and enforcement, and once again our good friends on the left are cheering this. F ’em!
Funny. Democrats used to support Title IX. Title IX singlehandedly created tons of sports scholarships for women in college at the expense of profitable sports programs for men and even led to uber entitled women’s pro sports leagues, subsidized by profitable men’s sports teams. Democrats cannot understand how their own DEI policies created the climate of people willing to exploit their policies for personal gain. Guys who couldn’t get a scholarship only need to declare they are women to get those scholarships (and deprive women of the same).
Instead of attempting to lump men into Title IX, the Democrats should have enacted a new title just for Trans. THEN VOTE ON IT. But getting actual majorities is too hard, so just do it by policy. Funny thing about policy. Live by it, die by it.
