She’s not my rep, but, close
So far, nothing from WRAL, ABC11, or the News and Observer. Finally something from CBS17
A North Carolina state representative said a social media photo she posted Saturday of a sign at a Raleigh “No Kings” protest was “inappropriate” and has since removed the image.
Representative Julie von Haefen (D-36) posted a photo of a woman holding a sign of a guillotine flanked by two life-sized heads, one of which resembled President Donald Trump.
The photo, which appeared to insinuate the beheading of President Trump, was included in a video along with several other photos from “No Kings” protests. Under the guillotine, the sign said, “In these difficult times some cuts may be necessary.” The other head dangling from a pole was a man with a Nazi symbol carved into his forehead.
If Julie was a Republican her party affiliation would have been in the headline and mentioned several times in the story. Not just (D-36).
“Yesterday, I posted a video on social media containing crowd photos from the No Kings protest in Raleigh. One of the images of a protestor holding a sign was inappropriate, and I later edited the video to remove the photo,” von Haefen said in a statement Sunday to CBS 17.
Yeah, she also deleted her Twitter account over the backlash
Later in her statement, she mentioned the Saturday shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers, one of which was deadly.
“Let me be clear: I condemn political violence in all forms. My focus remains on bringing people together and fighting for the values that matter to North Carolinians. Like so many, I was horrified by the violence in Minnesota. There is no place for that kind of extremism in our democracy, no matter the target, no matter the party,” the statement said.
So, it was a non-apology apology, since she could not just say “I messed up on this, I’m sorry.”
Sunday evening, North Carolina House Speaker Destin Hall (R-87) issued a statement to the media that said the sign in the photo “glorifies violence against her political opponents.”
“Her disgraceful behavior fails to meet the standards expected from House members and sets a dangerous precedent in an already volatile political climate. I am examining next steps with our legislative attorneys to ensure this behavior does not continue,” part of Hall’s statement said.
Now, if Julie was a Republican all the local news outlets would be calling for her to be booted from the General Assembly. They’d feature numerous quotes from Democrats decrying what she did and calling for her to be booted. It would probably make the national news, and be part of segments on the 630 evening news. And mentioned on the morning shows this morning. But, she’s a Democrat, so, the double standard plays hard.

If the left got their way, and President Trump died before his term was up, or was impeached and removed, it ain’t Mike Pence who would become President.
