40% of American women are college graduates but Few are bank presidents. They are nurses, teachers, accountants, doctors, lawyers, technicans, engineers, scientists, pharmacists, bookkeepers, execs, police officers, fire fighters, soldiers, pilots, Senators, mayors, politicians, consultants, ministers, priests, etc… Any public or private school is chockablock with educated women.
And yes, women bear children, which men of Mr Dana’s ilk consider to be their primary function. In the good old days, which both Mr Dana and I recall, fewer women went to college and fewer were in the workplace. Since WWII the employment rate of women has nearly doubled!! Why? The economy AND Americans changed! Americans were urged to want more and more “stuff” – bigger houses, 2nd auto, dinners out, more and nicer clothes, expensive trips. Blame TV, capitalism, marketing, the burgeoning gap between the wealthy and working classes. Women went to work. Note too that starting around 1980, the gap between productivity and compensation separated. Worker productivity continued to increase but compensation flattened. At the same time the rich got richer!!
