LOL: New Zealand Abandoning Net Zero Goals, Plans To Start Drilling Again

I’m sure she looks just like that

(Telegraph) New Zealand has abandoned its pursuit of net zero by revoking a ban on drilling for oil and gas.

The country’s government confirmed the shift in its latest budget this week, which unveiled plans to invest NZ$200m (£90m) in new offshore gas fields.

The reversal marks an end to a policy announced by Jacinda Ardern, the former prime minister, in 2018. She claimed at the time that “the world has moved on from fossil fuels”.

However, Nicola Willis, New Zealand’s finance minister, has consigned Ms Ardern’s policy to history by announcing plans to expand offshore gas fields.

In particular, she is seeking to attract international oil and gas companies with a taxpayer-backed subsidy of NZ$200m (£88m).

Why would she be sad: doesn’t she need all that fossil fuel for all her flights around the world?

Meanwhile, this is insane. The Biden regime was handing out almost a $100 billion in “loans” 76 days before Trump took office.

The senator appeared almost incredulous and asked for clarity: “So, so you’re telling me that the Department of Energy in the 76-day period before their boss was gonna leave office, gave or loaned money to, to entities that had no business plan?”

    “Correct,” Wright replied bluntly.

    “No financials?” Kennedy asked.

“Correct,” Wright told him. “I’ve come in with great concern about how this institution, this great American institution, has been run and how American taxpayer money has been handled.”

What shocked Kennedy most wasn’t just the lack of oversight but the arrogance of it all: “They were spending money at the Department of Energy like it was ditchwater,” he said, noting the department’s ballooning budget. “Their budget went from $60 billion to $160 billion since fiscal year 2021.”

The fascist from Mar a Lago strikes again. He offered them a deal they couldn’t refuse.

President Donald Trump announced Friday that “U.S. Steel will REMAIN in America” and keep its headquarters in Pittsburgh through a new “partnership” with Japan’s Nippon Steel.

The deal, which the White House described as a major win for U.S. manufacturing, shifts away from a full foreign acquisition and instead brings fresh capital into domestic steel operations.

Trump said the agreement would create at least 70,000 jobs and inject $14 billion into the American economy over the next 14 months.

    Lol????
Mr Teach has for some unknown reason chosen NOT to mention that currently(lol) New Zealand gets a whopping 87% of it’s electricity from green towable energy

    Lol x 2
That new drilling is for natural gas. 70% of NZ gas goes to petrochemical and fertilizer production very very little has been used for electric

  4. Elwood P. Dowd says:

    William Teach forgot to note:

Former President Joe Biden blocked the $14.3 BILLION acquisition during his last week in office. The deal has been controversial since it was first announced in December 2023, with both sides of the political aisle opposing foreign control of a once-key component of US industrial might that has fallen on hard times.

But in March, the Trump administration signaled it may allow the deal to go through after it filed a motion to extend two deadlines in a lawsuit U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel filed against the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which scrutinizes foreign investments for national security risks.

Mr trump announced that Nippon Steel was NOT purchasing US Steel but was “partnering” with them for $14 BILLION, LOL. We’ll see.

Mr trump also claimed it will add 70,000 new jobs to U.S. Steel (which currently has 14,000). We’ll see.

Let’s hope Nippon Steel didn’t “invest” in $TRUMP to facilitate the deal!
