Because the university is a state actor, such actions are contrary to the First Amendment.

The left hates actual free speech and wants the government to suppress speech with which they disagree. That’s the depth of their hate.

Last week, President Trump accused former president Barack Obama and former vice president Joe Biden of engaging in corrupt activities.
On Monday, Trump’s own attorney general, William P. Barr, punched a hole in that conspiracy theory — whether he intended to or not.
During a news conference at the Justice Department, Barr said that he did not foresee any criminal investigations involving Obama or Biden, despite Trump’s push. And he went on to decry the kind of politics that leads to such thinly substantiated allegations.
“The legal tactic has been to gin up allegations of criminality by one’s political opponents based on the flimsiest of legal theories,†Barr said. He added that “as long as I’m attorney general, the criminal justice system will not by used for partisan political ends. And this is especially true for the upcoming elections in November.â€
Barr went on: “We cannot allow this process to be hijacked by efforts to drum up criminal investigations of either candidate. And I’m committed that this election will be conducted without this kind of interference.â€
Because the left hates letting people know the whole story, here’s what else AG Barr had to say:
“There’s a difference between an abuse of power and a federal crime. Not every abuse of power — no matter how outrageous — is necessarily a federal crime,” Barr said at an unrelated news conference to discuss last year’s shooting at a U.S. military base in Pensacola, Fla. “Now, as to President Obama and Vice President Biden, whatever their level of involvement, based on the information I have today, I don’t expect Mr. Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man. Our concern over potential criminality is focused on others.”
Unlike the left’s accusations against Trump that are now known to have been false from the beginning of charges of Russian collusion, Barr is saying he’ll let the investigation go where it takes the DOJ.
That’s fair and reasonable and against everything the left stands for in their hatred of truth.
Because all the left has is hate.

The evidence is there, all he has to do is build the case. May take time, but, as Jeffery’s Uncle Joe liked to say, “To chose one’s victim, to prepare one’s plans minutely, to slake an implacable vengeance and then go to bed – there is nothing sweeter in the world”,

Pompeo asked tRump to fire IG Linick and tRump complied.
