Global Warming Today, Well, 1998. Now With Semprini!

All right, all right, what’s all this then! (yup, been watching Monty Python)

there is something worrying about one of Griffin’s other statements, which said that "I have no doubt . . . that a trend of global warming exists".

Griffin seems to be referring to human-caused global warming, but irrespective of that his opinion is unsupported by the evidence.

(Courier Mail) The salient facts are these. First, the accepted global average temperature statistics used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998. Oddly, this eight-year-long temperature stasis has occurred despite an increase over the same period of 15 parts per million (or 4 per cent) in atmospheric CO2.

Second, lower atmosphere satellite-based temperature measurements, if corrected for non-greenhouse influences such as El Nino events and large volcanic eruptions, show little if any global warming since 1979, a period over which atmospheric CO2 has increased by 55 ppm (17 per cent).

Third, there are strong indications from solar studies that Earth’s current temperature stasis will be followed by climatic cooling over the next few decades.

OK, global warming as caused by Man believers, will you discuss the scientific facts in the article, or go for the juvenile slurs? This is data that is part of IPCC, which all you GWACBM folks believe is the be all say all end of discussion document.

  1. John Ryan says:

No, of course there is no such thing as climate change everything is supposed to stay the same that is the conservative way of thinking. Today will always be just like yesterday.

  2. Jim says:

Did I miss the part where William said anything about, “there is no such thing as climate change”?

  3. Exactly, Jim. Fact is, I do believe that we are going through an overall warming period, even though some years might be cooler then the trend. You had years during the little Ice Age which were very hot, such as the year of the Battle Of Monmouth, where more soldiers died from heat stroke then from battle.

I just believe that it is mostly caused by natural forces, though man does have some influence, like through agriculture.
