Sheriff Sues Women Who Falsely Claimed She Was Held In ICE Detention

I could have sworn I had blogged about this lying wacko, but, maybe that was just on Twitter? Anyhow, she’s got some serious trouble coming her way

Wisconsin sheriff sues Skokie woman for defamation in ICE detention claim

A Wisconsin sheriff is now suing a Skokie woman and a Cook County politician for defamation after she claimed she was held at an out-of-state jail after being detained by immigration enforcement officials.

The sister of Sundas Naqvi and Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison held a press conference in March, where Naqvi’s sister claimed Sundas was detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport while returning from a trip to Turkey, then taken to Dodge County Jail in Wisconsin despite being a US citizen.

WGN-TV was told that Sundas Naqvi, who goes by “Sunny,” was returning from a business trip and was unlawfully detained for 43 hours upon arrival at O’Hare.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted the claim, sharing photos showing Naqvi leaving the screening area on her own. In the aftermath, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt launched his own investigation. Hotel records show Naqvi stayed at a Rosemont hotel during her alleged detention, according to evidence presented by Schmidt.

In other words, it was all a lie. Why did she do this and drag others into it? To demonize ICE? To add Islamophobia into it? Because liberal women are broken? Too bad all the news outlets who jumped on the story and ran with it instead of doing Journalism 101 can’t be sued, as well

“At no point was Sundas Naqvi in the custody of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Schmidt said. “This is not a misunderstanding or a minor discrepancy. This is not a violation of the constitutional or civil rights of Sundas Naqvi or those allegedly with her. The timeline being claimed is not physically possible based on the evidence we have, and that matters.”

WGN News reached out to Commissioner Morrison for comment about the civil lawsuit. In response, a spokesperson stated that, while they understand a complaint has been filed, the office would not comment on pending litigation.

It’s long past time to hold people responsible for their lies. They think they can get away with anything, especially in the social media and turning the amp to 11 activism. These people are plain nuts

We have defamation laws to hold people responsible for their lies.

Does Mr Teach believe we need more laws to force people to tell the truth?
