You knew this had to be coming, right?
The Science Behind NYC’s Severe Snow Storm: Arctic Air, Atlantic Winds and a Historic Nor’easter
NYC Snow Storm: The snowstorm that recently struck New York City was far from an ordinary winter event, as it was driven by an unusual and powerful combination of atmospheric conditions. Millions of city residents in the New York area and the Northeast are under mandatory road travel restrictions as a strong blizzard moves through the area.
In the New York City area, a travel ban has been issued for all non-emergency travel until noon Monday, while similar bans have been issued in Rhode Island and New Jersey. Emergency alerts were issued to cell phones warning of dangerous blizzard conditions, while Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared Monday a serious snow day, canceling all public school classes. (snipping all the way to the end)
Although experts warn that individual storms cannot be specifically attributed to climate change, scientists have observed that warmer ocean temperatures can lead to more intense storms as a result of increased moisture. When this increased moisture interacts with cold air, snowfall can become heavier and more hazardous. This particular storm demonstrated how warmer Atlantic waters and intense Arctic air outbreaks can combine to create more extreme winter weather events.
New York City’s intense snowstorm was the result of a unique combination of weather factors, including heavy Arctic cold, strong Atlantic winds, and a slow-moving nor’easter that fed on ocean moisture. Taken together, these factors made it one of the most serious winter storms to hit New York City in years.
Sigh. They really can’t help themselves. Was the Great Blizzard Of 1888 caused by ‘climate change’? The photo above is from then. More here.
Brian Krassenstein tried one, but, I guess he was getting to abused to keep it up. Not just because of the ‘climate change’ crap, but, saying that it was 65 mph winds prior to the 11am time frame he posted at for Plymouth, Mass was utterly wrong. Winds were hitting around 55 mph gusts around 1-4. This is what he posted
It’s impressive, but, no weather station recorded anything close to that at 6am. Anyhow

The cut off wind speed for NJs wind turbines is 55mph.
That is not a significant decrease in annular power generation
“When the chips are down” lol he means only that 0.02,?% of the time when winds are over t5 mph.
Notice there is no mention of how many actual hours were involved
I get paid over $130 1 to 3 hours working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over $27k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless.

Hey, Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, and after a fairly warm week, he had to get things back on track to make his forecast come true.
Just like on Feb.2nd Tim Walz emerged from his den to predict 6 more weeks of rioting and fraud….
Teach what do you think were the causes of this extreme weather event? Or do you think that there are no causes, that events like this or the 2988 storm just happen at random times?
What so you think caused them in 1826?
James,
Are you referring to the major storm of 1826, a catastrophic, multi-day rainstorm that struck New England in late August?
Read comment 5 below for explanation how global warming may have contributed to the current nor’easter, or “snowicane”.
Climate affects weather.
Good one-“may have contributed”. Or, may have not contributed.
Right back to square one…
“Can lead to more intense storms…” Except statistically, storms are no more intense now.
Again you use the lack of absolute certainty as a refutation of evdence.
You’ve been schooled and reschooled that scientific findings can always be “falsified”.
Were you not taught that at science school? BTW, you mention statistics often but it’s not clear you understand. “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics” – Missourian Samuel Clemens
(see the pre-mock in #4 below.)
There is NO absolute, completely verified PROOF that global warming influences weather!!!
Nor’easters, wildfires, hurricanes in Western NC, tornadoes, heat waves, TX blizzards, floods, Dengue and Zika virus spread have always occurred!!
Carbon dioxide is plant food!!! If we eliminate ALL the CO2, plants will die!! Climate change is a trillion dollar scam to enrich Nigeria and the Maldives!!
The so-called “scientists” claim:
“Although experts warn that individual storms cannot be specifically attributed to climate change, scientists have observed that warmer ocean temperatures can lead to more intense storms as a result of increased moisture. When this increased moisture interacts with cold air, snowfall can become heavier and more hazardous. Climate change is real, but it’s a CYCLE a thousand years long. At the peak of the LAST cycle, Vikings grew barley and had dairy farms on Greenland – and it was green! A thousand years earlier, Romans grew wine grapes in vineyards near London.
A half-cycle ago, the Greenland Vikings had all died of cold. In London, Londoners threw “Frost Fairs”, building villages and shops on the frozen Thames. In Amsterdam, the old Hans Christian Andersen stories about children ice-skating on the frozen canals were being lived and written. English settlers tried to build a colony in Virginia at Roanoke, which failed. (I wonder why!) A century later, George Washington’s troops dragged cannons across the frozen Hudson river. But NONE of those rivers freeze over any more.
We’re about to the peak of this cycle, so the next change will be COLD, probably by 2050.
