US judge permanently blocks Trump order requiring voters to prove citizenship
A federal judge on Friday permanently blocked part of an executive order from Republican U.S. President Donald Trump, ruling that the president cannot require voters to show passports or similar documents as proof of citizenship before voting.
Several lawsuits have challenged the president’s March 25 executive order, a sweeping order aimed at overhauling federal elections, and courts had already temporarily blocked it from going into effect. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in Washington, D.C., was the first to reach a final ruling against the executive order.
Kollar-Kotelly permanently blocked the part of the executive order that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. The judge had previously declined to block the part of the executive order that would bar states from counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day.
The ruling came in response to lawsuits by groups including the Democratic National Committee, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the League of Women Voters Education Fund.
Knowing the history, Judge WLM will see her ruling overturned, even with
Kollar-Kotelly found that part of the order was illegal because the U.S. Constitution gives states, not the president, the power to oversee elections.
But, Los Federales set some of the terms for federal elections. Really, all the left wants to do is make it easier for non-citizens to vote.

Trump himself has always voted by mail.
He keeps flip glopping his position on mail in ballots.
Before a mail in ballots can be opened 2 people must agree that the signature on the outside of the envelope matches the signature on record when that voter first registered.

I finally gave up and got a Real ID driver’s license when my regular license was about to expire, and that required my Social Security number on a government-issued document — I took a Form W-2 — and either my birth certificate, which I have but didn’t take, or passport, which I did take, both of which confirm that I’m an American citizen, I was born in the USA, but my citizenship is not listed on my Real ID. At the polls, even here in the backwoods Bluegrass, the poll workers scan the bar code on the back of my driver’s license, so the fact I am a real American could be confirmed that way, though I don’t know if it is.
Remember, the Real ID requirements were passed by Congress twenty years ago, and the final implementation date, after a bunch of delays, was set not by the Marquis of Mar-a-Lago, but during the Administration of the Autopen.

Even the uber-conservative Heritage Foundation found 85 cases!! Since 2002. Yawn. Yes, even one illegal vote is too many, but 85 in 20 years, when over 2 billion votes were cast in presidential elections, is survivable.
Recall Kris Kobach headed Big Donnie’s Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity in 2017, for ferreting out those millions of “illegals” who voted for Hillary in 2016. The commission was disbanded by Trump 8 months without issuing a report.
So we must try to ascertain the ACTUAL reason that right-wingers want fewer Americans to vote!!

Efforts? Limiting mail-in voting; strengthening voter ID laws; shortening early voting; eliminating automatic and same-day voter registration; curbing the use of ballot drop boxes; paper only ballots; allowing for increased purging of voter rolls; reducing polling places; Citizens United vs FEC.
All to discourage voting – all to fix a non-existent problem! Their real problem is too many Democrat voters!!

While Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly is certainly white, she received her law degree from The Catholic University of America, established by the Church in 1887 as a graduate and research center following approval by Pope Leo XIII.

Judge Kollar-Kotelly was nominated as an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia by a conservative saint, President Ronald Reagan. Remember him?
Staunch conservative, Chief Justice William Rehnquist appointed Judge Kollar-Kotelly to serve on the Financial Disclosure Committee, and later as Presiding Judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, where she served from 2002 to 2009, during the terms of President George W. Bush.
