CNN Seems Surprised That Americans Aren’t Afraid Of Climate Doom

I actually caught this piece Thursday while on the treadmill about 1230pm. I couldn’t hear it, but, the CNN climactivists, er, reporters, didn’t seem too happy

CNN polling guru surprised majority of Americans ‘aren’t afraid’ of climate change

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten was surprised on Thursday by polling data showing that the majority of Americans are not very worried about the impact of climate change.

“Are Americans afraid of climate change? And the answer is, Americans aren’t afraid of climate change,” Enten said on “CNN News Central.” “Climate activists have not successfully made the case to the American people.”

Enten said the network has data reaching back to 1989 about how worried people are about climate change.

In 1989, 35% of Americans were “greatly worried” about climate change, Enten said. In 2000, the number jumped five percentage points, with 40% of Americans being “greatly worried” about climate change.

Forty-six percent of Americans were “greatly worried” about climate change in 2020, but then the percentage dropped again to 40% in 2025, according to Enten.

The cult has been spreading awareness since 1988, ramping up the fearmongering year after year, and, yet, this is what we get.

“Despite all of these horrible weather events, the percentage of Americans who are greatly worried about climate change has stayed pretty, gosh-darn consistent, which kind of boggles the mind a little bit,” Enten said. “Granted, everything that we see on our television screens, our computer screens, the hurricanes, tornadoes, the flooding, but yet greatly worried about climate change, 40 percent in 2025, the exact same percentage as back in 2000.”

Most people realize that bad weather happens. Always has, always will. And, let’s be honest, people can only listen to so much fearporn before they just tune it out. I love watching horror, and, really, there’s very little that scares me anymore. And those horror movies are about as real as ‘climate change’.

When the activists’ methods of ‘persuasion’ are gluing themselves to roads, vandalizing art, and otherwise annoying the public, along with showing little sacrifice on their own, perhaps it’s no real surprise that they haven’t been very persuasive.

When people are told we are going to Climate Freeze, then told later Climate Warm, and then Climate Change (because they cannot fool us anymore) to get our money. We have a good reason not to believe they do not have a clue. It is all a scam for money and the fools that believe it are dumb libs.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

How much money has been seized from you to end global warming?

Newt Gingrich (R-GA) co-sponsored a 1989 bill that stated climate change was caused by human activities. In 2008, he even filmed a TV commercial wih Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) urging action on global warming!

George W. Bush’s climate change policies were characterized by a shift away from strict regulatory approaches, a focus on technological solutions, and a continued emphasis on energy independence, all while expressing skepticism about the severity of the problem and the urgency of international agreements like the Kyoto Protocol.

The Repubicun Party has immigrated from 1) accepting the reality of global warming while questioning mitigation approaches to 2) today, a full throated denial of global warming and its link to CO2! Quite the 180.

      • Dana says:

The distinguished Mr Dowd thought he asked a rhetorical question:

How much money has been seized from you to end global warming?

        Billions!

In the United States, federal tax credits for electric vehicles (EVs) have been available in various forms since 2008. The credit has been a key factor driving the rise in popularity and demand for EVs, according to Georgetown Law. Analysts from J.D. Power’s E-Vision Intelligence Report found that 87 percent of EV shoppers in 2024 took advantage of the tax credit.

The current federal EV tax credit, known as the Clean Vehicle Credit, was significantly overhauled and extended through 2032 by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This legislation provided for a tax credit of up to $7,500 for new EVs and $4,000 for used EVs. However, the program is scheduled to end after September 30, 2025, due to changes approved by Congress.

Pinpointing the total amount of tax credits issued since 2008 is difficult from the provided information. However, the U.S. Treasury Department and IRS announced in June 2024 that over $1 billion in EV tax credits had been issued as an upfront cash incentive to buyers of new and used EVs, starting January 1, 2024. This program allows the credit to be applied at the point of sale rather than waiting for tax season.

The cost of the EV tax credit program to the government has fluctuated significantly depending on the analysis. Estimates for the period between 2023 and 2032 range from $14 billion to $393 billion. This variability is attributed to factors like relaxed battery sourcing requirements and the potential for increased demand due to lower prices. One study suggests that a significant portion of the credit, around 75%, may go to individuals who would have purchased an EV regardless of the incentive.

That money which was not collected from taxpayers equals the additional money which was borrowed from China and private lenders, money that we, the taxpayers, will have to pay back. Every time the government makes an interest payment to Xi Jinping, part of it is to account for the additional money borrowed due to this ridiculous tax credit, a tax credit which has primarily gone to well-to-do people, given that EVs have been too expensive for working class Americans.

Sometimes those rhetorical questions actually have answers!

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          The question was not rhetorical.

Interesting take. So tax breaks for others are equivalent to taking money from you!!

Is that really a road you wish to travel?

Your cult leader is a billionaire who paid no taxes some years, thanks to tax laws favoring the super wealthy. Conscientious citizens like you and I make up the difference!!

Your cult leader’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act is adding a few trillion $$$ to the debt, which will require paying interest to those buying US debt!!

Interest on the national debt is primarily paid to holders of U.S. Treasury securities. Many Americans buy U.S. Treasury securities, such as savings bonds, as a secure method to save and earn interest. Businesses, including banks, pension and mutual funds, the Social Security Trust fund and other financial institutions, also invest in Treasuries. Foreign investors, both state and individual, invest in U.S. Treasuries. Japan holds around $1.1 trillion, China holds about $0.8 trillion, and the United Kingdom holds roughly $0.7 trillion of the $36 trilion U.S. federal debt.

The fickle, unpredictable, mercurial, capricious, volatile, excitable trump is reducing the world’s confidence in the stability of the U.S. daily. Econogenius trump keeps an eye on bond yields as he flirts with applying his stupid tariffs. Rising yields indicate the buyers losing confidence in the treasuries, which is why trump pushes most of his tariffs into the future.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr teach seems surprised that only 40% of Americans are “afraid” of global warming in 2025.

What the heck happened in 2025 to distract them, LOL? It seems most Americans have other more immediate concerns.

Regardless of popularity contests, the Earth continues to warm!

But the global warming denier cult can relax, Mr trump is rapidly withdrawing the United States from any international efforts to slow warming. You’ve won!!!

Take the win and stop whining! Be happy! Sit back and enjoy!

    • drowningpuppies says:

Heed your own snarky advice, Rimjob.

Take the L and STFU, loser.

      MAGA47 Motherfucker!

    • Dana says:

      One of the 40% wrote:

We certainly have, bigly! Our country has won as well.

Take the win and stop whining! Be happy! Sit back and enjoy!

That’s just it: just because we’ve won for the next four years does not mean we’ll have won starting January 20, 2029. This is the time to consolidate the win, to lock in the win, to keep the next President from undoing the victory. Sitting back and enjoying the win for too long is the kind of thing which leads to eventual loss.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

One of the 42% (trump supporers) is worried that when the Dems control the White House, House and Senate in Jan 2029 that they’ll be able to reverse the MAGAt climate denier cult machinations.

Unlikely since much of the infrastructure will be dismantled and it’s likely a number of regional wars must be attended to AND a recession/depression must be resolved. In addition, MAGALODon will have implanted thousands of MAGAts throughout the federal government to resist any change!!

How have the mitigation efforts affected you, other than mentally?

  4. Wylie1 says:

Had to listen to a leftist’s globaloney on a flight to Minneapolis. On final approach the display said -26 degrees outside. Pointed that out to the lib, then asked him to tell me again about global warming.

  5. Aliassmithsmith says:

Wylie1 thank you for pointing out the increasing volatility of temps as the Earth warms rapidly
this volatility of temps is one reason that we must continue to expect an increase in the number of extreme weather events.
Let me personally express my apologies for your victimization durring that flight

    • L'Roy White says:

Sorry white boy but you misidentified the actual victim.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Sorry, racist, but YOU misidentified the victim. It’s easy to shut down someone preaching to you when you’re trapped on the airplane.

Just say, “I’m sorry, but I don’t wish to chat”.

A friend, tall pretty blonde, used to say if they persisted, “Have you accepted he Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?” or, “Let’s discuss your insurance needs”.

    • Jl says:

Except there is no increase in the number of extreme weather events, Johnny-hairy-smith. And the “earth is warming rapidly” compared to…what?

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Jilly,

The Earth is warming rapidly compared to warming slowly like it did at the end of the last glacial period!!

Yes, there is strong evidence that extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change. This includes heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfall, and intense storms.

        Here’s why:
        Increased Heat Waves:
Rising global temperatures are causing more frequent and intense heat waves, and human activities are a key driver of this trend, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (.gov).

        More Intense Storms:
Warmer temperatures lead to more evaporation, meaning more moisture in the atmosphere. This can fuel more intense rainfall during storms and increase the risk of flooding.

        Droughts:
Climate change is altering rainfall patterns, and in many areas, this is leading to more frequent and severe droughts.

        Wildfires:
Warmer temperatures and drier conditions, both fueled by climate change, create conditions more conducive to wildfires.

Impacts of a Changing Jet Stream:
Some scientists believe that a weakening jet stream, due to a warming Arctic, is contributing to more extreme and persistent weather patterns in certain regions.

The scientific consensus is that climate change is driving these trends, and the severity and frequency of extreme weather events are projected to continue increasing with further warming.

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

    Sounds real.

Anyway, the tropopause (boundary between the troposphere and stratosphere; about 5-11 miles high) has an average temperature of -60°F (-51°C).

In the troposphere, as altitude increases, temperature decreases. This is because the troposphere is primarily heated by the Earth’s surface, and as you move higher, you get further from this heat source. The average rate of temperature decrease is about 6.5°C per kilometer. So, an airliner cruising at 10 km could be 65°C colder than the surface!! Oh my!

At 2 km (6500 feet) the temperature could be about 13°C colder than the surface. If it’s 0°C that day in Minneapolis, it’s likely -13°C at 2 km.

We were flying to Philly recently at 38,000 feet (11.6 km; 7.2 miles). Bet it was cold outside! Likely, -50°F!!

  7. Aliassmithsmith says:

    Lol
    Wylie. Was triggered !
Unable to find a safe space to hide

  8. Aliassmithsmith says:

Was that airplane incident a hate crime ?
Should Homeland Security be involved ?
If not an actual violation of Federal Law, certainly, civil actions should/could civil liabilities be imposed not only against the guilty individual involved but also against the airline for allowing that to continue

This would never have happened if gun grabbers had not violated our glorious 2nd Amendment by taking away our rights
