Why RFK Jr.’s search for autism’s cause is so divisive
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s pledge to investigate autism’s “root cause” has split advocates for people with the condition: Some, like Kennedy, want to know what’s causing it, while prominent groups think his search could do more harm than good.
Kennedy’s grim depiction of the most profound cases of autism — many “will never use a toilet unassisted,” he said in April — sparked condemnation from several groups devoted to championing autistic people. They said his remarks perpetuate stigmas associated with a condition that has a broad spectrum of manifestations — and, coupled with his well-known vaccine skepticism, color any attempt by the agency he leads, the Department of Health and Human Services, to conduct further autism research.
But others who say they speak for people with severe autism were heartened that Kennedy is promising to devote HHS’s resources to help them as autism diagnosis rates continue to climb.
“America has a big problem, and we have to face up to it,” said one of them, Jill Escher, president of the National Council on Severe Autism.
The divide shows how Kennedy’s search for autism’s source — he’s pledged to have some answers by September — has inflamed a long-simmering debate among people who advocate for those with the neurodevelopmental disorder and suggests that his investigation, whatever its findings, will be politically explosive.
I’m really not sure why investigating the root cause would be divisive at all. If this was some other disease, would they be against scientific research? What if he said they would figure out alzheimers? Or cancer?
But many in the autism community said Kennedy’s not the person to lead the effort. After his speech, several leading groups, including the Autism Society of America, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, and Autism Speaks, slammed him for spreading misinformation.
So, it is mostly because Kennedy is doing this. And, I’m sure there is some TDS involved. Because these Democrat leaning groups are more interested in politics than solving a medical issue. Why not offer their help instead? Or, is it also that the make good bank off keeping autism going? In increasing the numbers who are diagnosed with autism? When Biden said he wanted to solve cancer, only the extreme wackos who vote Republican had issues. Beyond that, Biden only caught some flack because he didn’t seem to be working toward that goal.
“Claims that Autism is ‘preventable’ is not supported by scientific consensus and perpetuate stigma,” they said in a statement. “Language framing Autism as a ‘chronic disease,’ a ‘childhood disease’ or ‘epidemic’ distorts public understanding and undermines respect for Autistic people.”
That is not a scientific statement, and shows that they really do not want any investigation into knowing anything about autism. I wonder why? ($$$$$$) Anyhow, many groups do support the scientific inquiry. And
Many autism advocacy groups have shifted their efforts in recent years toward amplifying the voices of people who have autism and urging society to accept them — and away from the search for a cause or cure.
Money. Influence. They want to keep this cash cow going instead of looking for an answer. And, really, this has been going on for awhile. Heck, had Biden tried to look for answers he probably who have received a lot of pushback.
Critics of Kennedy’s interest in environmental toxins point to studies that have found that genetics play a role in who develops autism and that autism can run in families.
And, what if there is a way to change that so they do not develop autism, or, maybe, the symptoms could be minimized? People are not born with measles, yet, we can give them a vaccine to stop it.
Cancer? That doesn’t exist anymore. Joe Biden, as Vice President personally led the war on cancer and defeated it soundly. He had 8 years and surely that was enough time to make some major discoveries, treatments and cures.

RFK Jr jettisoned a vaccine expert and hired a non-scientist, non-doctor anti-vaxxer quack, David Geier, to lead the search for the “cause” of autism. Kennedy claims an environmental toxin is the cause, and leans strongly toward vaccines.
In 2022, Kennedy credited Geiers’ research for showing that vaccines “had nothing to do with” a decline in infectious diseases over decades. “It was all an illusion.”
Smallpox vaccine? Illusion. Diphtheria vaccine? Illusion. Tetanus? Illusion. Polio? Illusion. Measles? Illusion.
Only 3 years ago, these two called the elimination of smallpox and polio an illusion!
Now, together these anti-vaxxer clowns are searching for the “real” cause of autism. Wonder what they’ll find with their “research”? LOL.
Gosh, it wasn’t that long ago the experts/doctors/scientists/researchers pushed the unproven Covid clot shots on everyone and we see how well that turned out.

I was fully vaccinnated but still caught COVID, although I had no symptoms. We checked because we were planning a trip. Remember the days before the vaccines when sick people were piled up like cord wood in hospitals and they had to use refrigerated trucks for morgues? Remember?

As you know I have an autistic daughter and I am quite willing to look at any option as to what causes autism to help other families to avoid what mine has gone through. Also in the hope that we may find the cure for the autism little Aubrey has.

Kennedy, Geier or Trump are not going to help you or Audrey. RFK Jr and his boss has cut funding on autism research, especially for helping the autistic function even better. They are misleading you. The Education Dept devoted $800 MILLION to autism research and support. Gone. Similarly for NIH and the National Institute of Mental Health.
“Funding for autism research is actually disappearing at a time when we see the director of HHS talking a lot about autism as though they think it is important,” says Micheal Paige Sandbank, an autism researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “Behind the scenes, they are taking a hammer to the whole apparatus for autism research.”

Vaccines and thimerasol as a cause of ASD has been thoroughly researched and the idea in not supported by evidence. Research HAS shown that disorders in the development of neural signalling pathways likely play an important role. Signalling molecules and receptors in the pathways could be damaged in utero or inherited.
Factors that correlate with an increased risk of ASD are a family history, maternal/paternal age, difficult pregnancy or delivery, maternal diabetes, preterm birth and external exposures. Numerous genes are linked to autism, and the exact genetic makeup can vary significantly among individuals. ASD could be triggered by the combination of genes and other factors.

Forgive us Americans and world wide citizens if we do not Trust Pfizer, Eli Lily or Moderna when they say one of their drugs is safe.

Instead, the food companies keep putting more and more drugs and chemicals into food to ensure they can keep feeding the people. Fertilizers and pesticides are used in ever growing amounts to ensure greater yields and thus more profits. Cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys are injected with anti-biotics, fed food laced with fertilizers and pesticides and then sent to Americans to eat. Meanwhile new areas for farming to feed the people continue to open up due to a warming planet.
So the game plan for certain groups is to stop global warming so that there is no new sources of food. Stop any questions about science because it threatens the food industry which is making people, fat…..sick and sluggish. Instead entice them with video games and social media where trolls can constantly tell them how great they look in that wheelchair, sporting an oxygen tank while they play an online video game that makes them feel alive.
I for one wonder if it is aliens who have come to earth in 1947 and are now in charge of our science programs, because honestly, I see very little evidence that the food or Medicine industry wants to help Americans.
And lets not forget.
