Overheated World Alert: US, Canada To See Rare Early Snow

It’s your fault that there are hurricanes in the Pacific off the Mexican coast and one brewing in the Gulf Of America all while snow is brewing in the north

‘First widespread snowfall’ in forecast. Why it’s a rare event

stop global warmingWhile Americans in the Southeast will be dealing with Hurricane Isaias and its remnants over the weekend of Oct. 10, folks in the opposite corner of the nation will be battling wintry, snowy weather.

“The first widespread snowfall of the season is expected across the Northern Rockies this weekend into early next week,” the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather Prediction Center said in a post on X on Oct. 7.

As much as a foot is possible in some of the highest elevations of the Rockies, forecasters said. “This will be a significant early-season snowfall for 6-12 inches of snow at elevations as low as 4,000 feet in the northern part of the Rockies from Saturday [Oct. 10] through Monday [Oct. 12],” AccuWeather senior meteorologist Brett Anderson said in an online forecast.

Map Shows Up to 18 Inches of Snow as 98 MPH Gusts Hit This Week

Up to 18 inches of snow is possible by early Thursday in the high-end scenario from the National Weather Service. NWS labels that layer experimental and puts the odds of exceeding it at about 1 in 10, with its expected totals running far lower. Drivers heading north this week also face hurricane-force gusts at elevation and the first frost of the season.

The heaviest band on the agency’s 72-hour high-end snowfall map, running into early Thursday, sits over the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire at 18 inches. Far northern Maine and the Adirondacks of northern New York reach 5 inches each in that run, while Colorado’s high country shows 1 to 2.

I’ll be honest, I do not see any snow on the radar, so, maybe that fizzled, but, the very notion that there could be snow on October 8th is horrible, all because you drove a fossil fueled vehicle.
