Corporate Climate (scam) Pledges Are Evolving Or Something

By evolving, US News and World Report mostly means “dumping them”

Corporate Climate Change Pledges Are Shifting and Evolving

Reporting this week that Starbucks has quietly but aggressively rolled back many of its sustainability targets has turned a spotlight on corporate climate pledges and how they have evolved in recent years.

The Financial Times reported Tuesday that Starbucks has revised or abandoned pledges to cut waste and water use in half, even as it reconsiders a goal to reduce carbon emissions by a similar amount.

The newspaper also reported that Starbucks executives focused on sustainability have been particularly hard hit by job cuts at the company over the last two years.

The news was particularly striking because the Seattle-based coffee giant has cultivated an eco-friendly image for years, making green commitments a central element of its corporate identity.

That Starbucks is doing this shows that even the most extreme companies are realizing that it’s a scam, it costs too much money, and the purpose of the business it to make money. Oh, and that people really care about this stuff less and less in the real world, and consumers do not want to pay for the cult activism of companies

The environmental consultancy firm Trellis recently reported that while Walmart cut its overall carbon emissions in 2025, it has also revised overall green commitments, in some cases postponing the target dates for specific goals.

In July, a New York Times analysis cited Pepsi, Coca-Cola and Kraft Heinz along with steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal among corporate giants that “moved the goal posts” when initial climate pledges proved difficult or impossible to honor.

Companies are moving away from placating the climate nuts, because, let’s be honest, while a lot of people care in theory about ‘climate change’, they don’t care that much and companies having pledges means jack squat to them.

Starbucks is undergoing extreme financial of isl distress. Last week they closed another 250 stores due to how well the Trump economy is doing. The total number of Starbucks closed in the last 2 years is 877.
People are now unable/unwilling to spend 5 dollars on a coffee
Starbucks is cutting back on all costs

    • Dana says:

Or perhaps people are realizing that a cup of coffee at home costs 55¢ — my estimate for a cup using my Keurig — and they save time by driving straight to work instead of their detour to Starbucks, and they realize that they are burning more gasoline detouring to Starbucks and then idling in the drive through lane.

The chain is also closing some of its stores due to crime and homeless junkies as well as unionization.

      • Alias says:

        Good point Dana
Homelessness is also “skyrocketing” in the Trump economy.
Fentanyl is now cheaper than at any time in the past. I guess some would blame Biden for the high cost of the past. Trump is literally saving junkies billions of dollars by going after undocumented workers instead of stopping drugs from entering the USA

        • Jl says:

Fentanyl deaths down 55% and heroin deaths down 89% from their peaks

        • Jl says:

Funny-“undocumented workers”. You mean illegal aliens

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Either. Why do you find “undocumented worker” funny?

Using “illegals” displays willful ignorance and/or wanton cruely and/or frumious bandersnatchery.

          • Dana says:

Replace “undocumented worker” with “unlicensed pharmacist,” and you ought to see the truth. “Undocumented workers” is a euphemism for Illegal immigrant, used by the left to try to mealy-mouth the fact that they are in the country illegally and are breaking the law every day that they stay here.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr Dana of Madison County conflates “undocumented worker” with “unlicensed pharmacist”.

Whereas an unlicensed pharmacist puts patients at risk, an illegal worker (as used) is most likely a high quality employee!!!

We even stated that “illegal worker” was equivalent to “undocumented worker”.

If Mr Dana of Madison was truly interested in reducing the number of undocumented workers he would urge his public servants to pursue “illegal employers”. Hundreds of thousands of illegal workers are being deported yet not even 10 illegal employers are being arrested.

MAGAts such as Mr Dana of Madison want to keep America “pure” (white, christianist, male-dominated, just as the Founding Dads from the British Isles envisioned).

SpaceXAi has erected a dozen or so methane turbines in northern MS to power their giant Collosus 1 and Collosus 2 data centers in suburban Memphis (Whitehaven). Collosus (with help from taxpayers to the tune of $500 million) supports the development and “training” of the Musk’s Grok AI system. Why do tech billionaires need suburban sites? The existing utility infrastructures.

The methane turbines were erected just across the TN/MS border and the electricity crosses the border to Whitehaven. The poor residents (black and white) of Southhaven, MS have to endure the noise and pollution from the massive turbines. Citing national security, the U.S. DOJ shut down lawsuits questioning the legality of the development which had violated state laws.

Data centers already use some 5% of U.S. electricity generation and is expected to double or quadruple in the next few years!!

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

What do you think will happen when the “AI bubble” bursts? Trillions in investments will vaporize!

Goldman Sachs estimates firms need $300 billion in new AI revenue just to break even. Fortunately, taxpayers can pony up and their kids can pay it off. Donny has the tech boy’s backs.

The AI tech-boy billionaires are working secret deals with The Godfather, Don, to cover their profligate asses. Part of the AI bro’s cries to stop them before they annihilated humanity was to get assurances that THEY would NOT be held accountable for damages. Their smiles after meeting with Donny tell you all you need to know!!

BTW, currently, data center bonds trend toward BBB or junk status. And 10-year Treasury yields near 5.3% drive up corporate borrowing costs.

Donny is operating on a tight timeline, hoping to not suffer a humiliating defeat in the midterms, which could trigger an AI meltdown.

Would you MAGAts support him declaring a national emergency because of voting “irreglarities” and “delaying” the mid-terms??

I make over 220 an hour working remotely and have more time to spend with my kids. My friend’s success paved the way for me. This wonderful opportunifty allowed me to find the best work-life balance.
