EPA announces rollback of climate pollution rules for power plants
The Environmental Protection Agency is repealing rules that curb greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. The action, announced Monday at the G20 “Energy Abundance Ministerial” in Houston, eliminates limits set by the Biden administration in 2024.
“The Trump Administration has come in to protect American energy and to make sure you can afford to keep the lights on,” said EPA Administrator Zeldin, in a release. “Americans will see a decrease in electricity prices, but this is just the beginning.”
The rule change is the latest in a back-and-forth between Democratic and Republican administrations over whether or not to limit power plants’ greenhouse gas pollution, the main cause of climate change.
Power plants are the second largest sources of emissions in the U.S. behind transportation.
And, yet, all those climate cult states have not just ended their use of those power plants. It’s almost like the Warmists would rather have “dirty” energy that save the planet.
The Trump administration stressed the importance of coal and natural gas in powering the electric grid, which is seeing high demand from artificial intelligence and data center growth. Coal accounts for 16 percent of the country’s electricity, while natural gas accounts for 40 percent, according to federal data.
“During periods of peak electricity demand, coal and natural gas continue to play a critical role in keeping the lights on,” said Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. “Today’s announcement will help ensure reliable electricity generation.”
Look, I’m not a big fan of coal, it is dirty (not from CO2) and bad environmentally, but, the US needs energy. If Warmists would have let us start building next-gen nuclear power plants 20 years ago we’d be doing great!
The cost of power generated from the last nuke that went on line is 2x as much as power from renewables. And will take 5 times as long to build. We do not yet even have designs for utility scale next gen designs. After that comes permits. Locals do not want them. No one is even willing to insure the construction bonds needed to begin construction. Last wind turbine construction took 3 years to finish and gives kwh equal to a nuke plant

Which means all that new renewable power needs to be backed up by fossil fuels, because renewables are intermittent.
Johnny-basic math. A smaller number of to begin with will generate a larger percentage increase than beginning with a larger number. Example-there’s 1 solar plant, and then another one is built. That a 100% increase. There’s 50 coal plants, and 10 new ones are built. That’s a 20% increase.
I’m not certain how the wokesters who were running President Biden’s administration thought they could impose expensive new rules on electric power plants and concomitantly force more people into driving plug-in electric cars.
By the grace of God we have 1000 years of clean king coal!! Let’s burn it and finally kill the myth of “dangerous” carbon dioxide, our most powerful plant food that the wokesters want locked away underground!!!

Real regulation like this needs to be debated in congress and passed by legislation. But congress is spineless (both parties). They all want to accept all the benefits of being in office and passing any sort of bill that gets attention will hurt their re-election chances. Spineless.
