Climate Doom Is Making People Lonelier Or Something

Have I seen this one before? I can’t find anything in the archives. Maybe I didn’t touch on this? Regardless, this seems like more insane scaremongering from the doomsday cult (FYI, I cut most of the links out of the story, can always see them at the link)

Climate change may be making us lonelier. How heat waves and extreme weather disrupt social connections

Severe storms, heat waves and wildfires can shut down the social life of a community, flooding out festivals, canceling community events and keeping people indoors.

They’re also evidence of how climate change isn’t just changing the environments we all live in, but also impeding our ability to connect with one another.

Around the world, social connection is increasingly recognized as essential to individual and collective well-being. It keeps our brains active and can lower stress levels. During emergencies, social ties can also save lives. Relationships are conduits for timely information sharing, mutual aid and collective action. When temperatures soar, friends and neighbors share heat warnings, check on older adults or other community members who may need help, and coordinate community cooling shelters when formal systems are overwhelmed.

Yet, the effects of climate change may be weakening the very social fabric that helps communities thrive.

As extreme weather becomes more common and disruptive, the effects can impair relationships, interrupt routines and communication, and damage gathering places and the foundations of community traditions.

It’s called weather. Humans have done fine with the weather throughout our history. This is just the cult being the cult, doomsaying, blaming things that really have nothing to do with the weather and everything to do with the kiddies really just spending a lot of time alone at home, playing games, doing social media stuff, etc. Technology. Hell, they can be gathered in a group and they’ll all be staring at their phones. And COVID and the post-COVID world did not help.

Oh, and

No religious or spiritual life, too much focus on one’s own feelings, and the changing nature of work — with more remote and hybrid schedules —   were perceived causes of loneliness selected by around 50% of people who participated in the survey

Interestingly, Millennials are essentially the worst for loneliness, with Gen Z being more adapted. It ain’t global boiling.

  1. Alias says:

Gen Z is the unhappiest and rightly so. There are very few jobs available for them. We need 200000 new jobs per month (Biden’s average) instead we had negative 23,000 new jobs last month.

Behind that generation is GenX,Teach’s gen. Middle aged realizing there is little chance of a life any better than what they have now.
They have the highest obesity rate and all of the mental and physical rates associated with that.
