TPS for Haitians officially ends, putting thousands out of work and in limbo
A federal judge on Wednesday took the final step in allowing the Trump administration to terminate temporary protected status for 350,000 Haitians, meaning many are likely to lose their jobs and be at risk of deportation back to a country the United States says remains dangerous.
U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes of the District of Columbia had enjoined the administration in February from ending TPS for Haitians, and a federal appeals court had refused to lift the ban. Reyes reversed her decision after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in June that federal law bars judicial review of TPS determinations.
The high court’s ruling means TPS “is no longer in effect,” Reyes wrote in her new order Wednesday. However, the judge said she would allow attorneys to continue seeking discovery and litigating their underlying claims that the Trump administration terminated TPS because of their clients’ race.
The Supreme Court’s ruling left open a narrow path for TPS holders to challenge the loss of their status on constitutional grounds. An attorney representing the immigrants involved in the Supreme Court case said the team is considering filing a new lawsuit.
Oh, FFS. This sh*t is just going to keep going on and on, isn’t it? The Washington Post headline was exciting, then the article just let me down. Seriously, this is deranged. They’ve been here a long time, well beyond what’s reasonable. Why are other countries not taking them in?
Immigration experts said that even before Reyes’s amended ruling, companies had begun large-scale layoffs of Haitian TPS holders, who now face the possibility of detention and deportation. Another federal judge in New York is expected to soon allow the Trump administration to formally end TPS for an estimated 6,000 Syrians to comply with the Supreme Court.
About 200,000 Haitians with TPS hold jobs, with large concentrations of workers in health care, food service, warehousing, retail and long-term caregiving, according to an analysis of government data by the immigration advocacy group FWD.us. Business owners have been preparing for weeks by raising sign-on bonuses, cutting shifts and making inroads at community colleges and high schools to hire new staff, industry leaders said.
Well, there’s at least that.

There is no reason for those people to be out of work and in limbo. They can and should just go home and do whatever they like in their home country. Maybe they can start a car company or open a free clinic or even a high quality day care.
Now that they’ve gotten an education in American capitalism, they can return and Make Haiti Great Again!
You know what’s great? If they had work permits and were employed and paying all of their taxes legally, once we kick them out, their Social Security and Medicare taxes paid can help prop up those systems, while they’ll never be able to use those benefits!

I anticipated our defender of illegals’ remark, and will point out that my mother and my best friend both died at the age of 63, before they could collect on Social Security benefits or go on Medicare. That has always been the underlying premise of those systems: that many people who pay into those systems will never be able to collect the benefits from them.
The younger President Buish proposed allowing people under 55 at the time to divert 2.0% of their 6.2% Social Security tax into private investments, and was absolutely excoriated by the Democrats for wanting to “privatize” Social Security. But, had that passed, there would at least be the investment and returns from that 2.0% deferral which the heirs of the taxpayer could inherit even if the taxpayer went to his eternal reward before retirement age.
By all means, turn down your SS and Medicare payments and help slow Big Donny’s burgeoning budget ($40 TRILLION). Interest is about $3 BILLION PER DAY now!!

BILLIONS in taxpayer investment in nucular energy (and his boys also invest in the companies). Even tRump Media has become a nucular energy company (Trump Media & Technology Group agreed to a $6 billion all-stock merger with nuclear fusion startup TAE Technologies to create a publicly traded fusion energy company aimed at powering artificial intelligence data centers).
The Trump administration has invested roughly $26.7 billion to $27.6 billion of federal funds across about 30 to 37 equity and quasi-equity deals in private corporations. (Should his administration officials and families be stopped from investing privately in those corporations?)
Poor Jimmy Carter had to give up his $2 million peanut farm. Good times.
OuR friends on the radical left don’t understand that social security is a tax. It technically gets “stolen” when it comes out of your paycheck, not when you claim benefits. So, if there is empathy with the hapless Hatians, it should be to free them from tax slavery, not keep them in bondage to help pay for condos in Florida for rich white Boomers.
