This is purely the result of Trump Derangement Syndrome. If there ever were an issue Democrats could rally around, this is it. It’s foreign policy, it’s attacking a nation that has chanted death to America for decades, been involved in killing Americans, and so much more. But, no, they are unhinged. Anything regarding Trump they have to do the opposite. First, though
And here we go
Lawmakers stress new urgency around war powers votes after Iran strikes
Efforts in Congress to block President Trump from using further military action against Iran without support from lawmakers have intensified after the U.S. and Israel launched a massive military operation on Saturday.
Lawmakers are expected to vote this week on resolutions to require President Trump to seek Congressional approval to use military force on Iran as top Democrats — and some Republicans — seek to reassert Congress’ power to declare war and prevent a prolonged conflict. And although the votes were expected ahead of the strikes, the administration’s actions over the weekend prompted new energy from lawmakers, and calls for Congress to return to Washington immediately to vote as the conflict unfolds.
“This is a disaster, it is illegal, and the president is obligated under the Constitution to come to Congress and ask for an authorization of military force,” Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut said Sunday on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.”
It’s not illegal, it’s undocumented. All Trump really needs to do is officially notify Congress and then end it up in 60-90 unless Congress authorizes further action.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the Senate should “quickly return to session and reassert its constitutional duty by passing our resolution to enforce the War Powers Act.” And House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said House Democrats “remain committed to compelling a vote” on a war powers resolution upon the chamber’s return this week.
“Iran is a bad actor and must be aggressively confronted for its human rights violations, nuclear ambitions, support of terrorism and the threat it poses to our allies like Israel and Jordan in the region,” Jeffries said in a statement. “However, absent exigent circumstances, the Trump administration must seek authorization for the preemptive use of military force that constitutes an act of war. And Orange Man Bad!”
Ok, I added that last sentence. But, that is what it boils to. Same with Thomas Massie, who’s gone pure TDS. Democrats are seriously on the wrong side of a 90/10 issue, and, to repeat, it’s all due to TDS.
The resolutions would direct the president to remove U.S. military forces from hostilities against Iran unless authorized by either a declaration of war or another specific authorization for the use of military force. Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, who’s leading the war powers push in the Senate said in a statement that the chamber should immediately return to session to “block the use of U.S. forces in hostilities against Iran.”
Good grief, these people. This is a generational chance to get rid of the leaders of the largest state sponsor in the world. China, Russia, and Cuba have been seemingly changing their tunes. And Democrats want to retreat.

Efforts in Congress to block President Trump from using further military action against Iran without support from lawmakers have intensified after the U.S. and Israel launched a massive military operation on Saturday.

Under the War Powers Act of 1973, passed over President Nixon’s veto, the President has to seek congressional approval or troops must be withdrawn within sixty days, with an additional 30 days if he certifies that the additional time is required to withdraw in a safe and orderly manner. More, Congress can force earlier withdrawal by concurrent resolution, something not subject to a presidential veto. The additional thirty day certification remains legally possible.
In effect, the President has time to break Iran, but not remake Iran. That’s actually a good thing: much of the problems we had in Afghanistan and Iraq were the results og attempts at ‘nation-building,’ trying to turn Islamic [insert slang term for feces here]holes into Western democracies.
The late Shah was westernizing Iran culturally, but not politically; he was a dictator. Maybe, maybe! if the Iranian protesters finish the overthrow of the government we can have an Iran which is mostly inward-looking politically — the part we want most — and possibly trading burkhas for bikinis socially. Democratic? Possible but unlikely. Islamic in moderation? Maybe.
The Sharia law practiced in Iran is much more liberal than that enforced in Safi Arabia. Why aren’t we trying to free those women?
They just announced that 3 jets were shot down by Kuwait. I haven’t seen any reports over the pilots.
Polymarket gambling has set the over under for the length of the war at 30 days. I am in on the over.
Ira. Has already refused Trump’s initial offer of a cease fire.
How long do you think this will last ?
U.S. officials say this will likely last weeks, not days.
The three U.S. jets were lost to friendly fire from Kuwaitis. No fatalities. No more than $300-600 MILLION lost in the blink of an eye.
Each Patriot-like missile to protect against the hundreds of incoming Iranian missile costs $3-7 MILLION.
Our repubicun plutocrats say cha-ching!! Your tax dollars at work (or play).
This sure puts ICE and Epstein out of focus! This is almost like a national emergency, LOL!
King Donald, Little Peter ‘Slick’ Hugseth and Teensy tiny Raisin’ Caine keep calling this war “a war”. But only Congress can declare war, right?
This is the Mad King’s Hail Mary!
More mudslinging with a little whining thrown in from the Rimjob.
Typical nonsense.
Like most MAGAts, Critter William gives lip service to peace while getting ultimately aroused by War! After all King Donnie, while running on “no more wars of choice”, turned our DOD into the DOW, putting a cunning linguist from FOX TV in charge!
Donnie. For once, be a man. Admit you diddled a few little girls. Take your punishment. There is no need for starting WWIII.
Typical nonsensical mudslinging from the loser Rimjob.
Typical nonsensical mudslinging from the loser CumBreath.
BTW, oil AND defense contractor stock prices are safe havens!!! Plutocrats rejoice!
Do you think your Mad King tipped them off?
Rimjob has an obvious tell.
When he repeats the previous commenter he hasn’t an clue about a response.
And he’ll close with a rhetorical question.
Such a Rimjob.
Where were these Democrat Congress critters during Bill Clinton’s presidencies; when he engaged in all of the following? They called it “interventions”; to get around calling them “wars”.
Key Military and Foreign Policy Actions
Somalia (1993): Initiated as a humanitarian relief mission, it evolved into a conflict involving U.S. troops, most notably the Battle of Mogadishu, leading to a withdrawal of forces.
Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995): Following years of conflict, the Clinton administration used NATO airstrikes to halt Serb aggression, paving the way for the Dayton Accords.
Haiti (1994): Operation Uphold Democracy was a military intervention to restore elected President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power.
Kosovo (1999): A 78-day NATO bombing campaign against Yugoslavia to stop ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo.
Iraq (1993, 1996, 1998): Frequent cruise missile attacks and airstrikes were ordered against Iraq, including retaliation for a foiled plot to assassinate former President George H.W. Bush.
Sudan and Afghanistan (1998): Cruise missile strikes were launched against a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan and alleged terrorist camps in Afghanistan in response to US embassy bombings.
Key Regional Issues
