Lefty Mayor Zohran Mamdani opposes requiring ID’s to vote — but mandates no less than five forms of identification in order to shovel snow.
The New York City Sanitation Department website says that in order to register as an emergency snow shoveler, an applicant must provide two small photos sized 1-1.5 square inches, two original forms of ID plus copies, and their social security card.
Mamdani called on New Yorkers to sign up to become emergency snow shovelers Saturday, telling them to show up to a local sanitation garage with the reams of required paperwork.
“For those who want to do more to help your neighbors and earn some extra cash, you too can become an emergency snow shoveler. Just show up at your local sanitation garage… with your paperwork which is accessible online,” Hizzoner said at a presser Saturday.
I guess they need the shovelers after the utter failure of NYC after the last snow storm
“Our candidates for office stand firm against racist voter ID laws and secret poll taxes like the ‘SAVE America Act,’” The DSA’s website stated.
That would mean Mamdani. Every single NYC Democrat, including AOC, Hakeem Jeffries, Jerry Nadler (they are the known ones) voted against the SAVE Act. The photos are surely to make ID cars. To shovel snow. Two IDs? I guess that would be a DL or state ID, plus a passport (which requires a birth certificate). Maybe a student ID is acceptable? SS card? I guess that is for pay? I haven’t been required to show that to any employer. Why does the city need that? Haven’t Dems been saying they don’t have access to one?
I wonder how many will show up to fill out the reams of paperwork to do the job their taxes pay for?
Weird. Unlike voting, Shoveling Snow is not mentioned in the Constitution.
I shoveled snow 20 years ago for the city. I did have to show ID
I was paid by cheque sent by postal mail 1 month later. I was never issued any type of an ID they Teach mentioned. I think the IF requirement is to prevent ghost workers to be hired
Weird how Teach seems to think everything others do is weird.
Trying to rebut what Teach has pointed out here would be a sign of severe mental retardation. So I’m not going to try it. See above comments.
I don’t think there will be many workers showing up. Shoveling snow is much more work than holding protest signs or blocking traffic. Much better to stay in mom’s basement and be a keyboard warrior.
