As the wind gives up energy to turn the windmills, it necessarily slows down.After more than a week of unseasonably warm, but very nice weather at the Old Creekmore Farm — I discovered that’s what this place was named in the old county deed book — a front came through last night. High winds, 0.41 inches of rain, and the sparktricity failed at 12:40 AM, not returning until 7:10 this morning.
But, not to worry, even though the heat pump HVAC system requires electricity to operate, our backup propane fireplace, which is on a battery-powered thermostat, came on when the house got too cool. Once again, fossil fuels have saved the day!
