The U.S. homicide rate has been dropping steadily since 2022 – and it would make sense that the rate continues to drop in 2025. Maybe bad guys can’t afford ammo!!
The rate shot up in 2020, Donne45’s last year! The year-over-year increase in the U.S. murder rate in 2020 was the largest since at least 1905 – and possibly ever, according to the CDC.
Do MAGAts really believe that presidents determine the homicide rate? The highest rate was under St Reagan!!
You’d be a better person if you figured out why the rate keeps changing. But that would be asking too much I guess.

Even experts aren’t sure why the rate changes. These are broad trends – not so much year to year.
The peak homicide rate was in 1991 – 10.7/100K.
The nadir in 2014 – 4.7/100K.
Scholars suggested causes: increased incarceration, aging population, end of crack epidemic…
A secondary peak – 7.8/100K – in 2021. Attributed to the pandemic crisis.
A new trough – 5.2/100K – in 2024. Maybe even lower in 2025!!! Let’s hope!
