House Republicans Health Insurance Plan, No Subsidies Included

Obviously, no matter how good it is Democrats will vote against it, and it will never make it through the filibuster in the Senate

House GOP unveils health care bill without ObamaCare subsidies extension

House Republicans on Friday unveiled a health care bill they will bring to a vote next week that includes items that are broadly popular in the party, like cost sharing reductions and reforms to the pharmacy benefit manager industry, but will exclude extension of expiring enhanced ObamaCare subsidies.

House GOP leaders will allow an amendment vote on extending expiring Obamacare subsidies, a GOP leadership aide signaled, in a concession to moderates who had been calling to go on the record on the matter. The exact contours of the amendment are not yet settled.

“We expect that there will be an amendment that I believe is being worked on. So, the process will allow for that amendment,” a House Republican leadership aide said.

As distasteful as they are they subsidies should be kept for a year or two, allowing other measures to be put into place to decrease the premiums for real, not cover them up, which have gone up at least 10% ever since Obamacare went into effect.

The bill will also include a provision to make it easier for businesses to fund their own insurance plans, and protect themselves from going bankrupt from large, expensive claims.

It will expand association health plans, and will also include provisions to make the PBM industry more transparent.

It should allow for catastrophic plans, which Obamacare killed off. It should allow for more customized plans and erase a lot of the requirements. Men do not need measures meant for women only….oh, right, Democrats cannot tell the difference. The whole plan needs to be rejiggered so that it doesn’t end up being about giving money to the insurance companies who then have an incentive to keep costs high.

Eliminating all the waste and fraud would be helpful, as well

Hey, remember when the CBO said that Obamacare would pretty much pay for itself? And some of these false hoods?

But, Republicans did not get out and vote for Squishy Mitt Romney, who would have been a damned sight better than Obama, in 2012, which would have been the time to kill Ocare before it too effect.

The biggest election issue of 2012 was the economy.

Romney was squishy on that ?

The economy will be the biggest midterm issue.
Trump’s economy sucks. He lies about it constantly
“I inherited the worst inflation in history”
No you didn’t Trump. At the end of Biden’s term inflation had fallen to 3% just about what it has been all through Trump’s term

“Gas prices were sky high 5 bucks under Biden”
1 year ago under Biden lowest gas price was in Ok $2.52
Now they are $2.50 in OK.

    Trump lies, his followers swallow

Trump continued his relationship with Epstein 2 years AFTER his first child sex conviction

OK. It’s time to get gubmint out of healthcare. Kill the PPACA, kill Medicaid, kill Medicare. Kill the Veterans Administration.

Why are the American taxpayers paying for a 71 year old man’s liver cancer treatments? Can’t pay? Die and reduce the excess population.

Our aging population is seeing an epidemic of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, often requiring nursing home stays. Why should taxpayers pay for this?

Why should we taxpayer foot the bill for a 7 year old’s leukemia treatments? Or a 9 year old’s life-long diabetes treatments? Brain aneurysm? Pay for the repair(or the private insurance) yourself . Otherwise, just die. No one lives forever.

Dana point out that U.S. healthcare was great until 2008, but wasn’t it much better (and cheaper!) Before Medicare (B.M. – 1965) and Medicaid?

Medicare greatly subsidizes health care for those over 65 and some younger persons with specific disorders. Medicaid, primarily a state run program, was also established in 1965 and subsidizes health care for the poor and some of those with disabilities. SCHIP/CHIP was devised to subsidize healthcare for children in families earning too much to qualify for Medicaid, but too little to afford private healthcare insurance. Our Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides healthcare to veterans.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), aka ACA or Obamacare, is a federal program enacted in 2010 that covered most Americans who were not covered by the patchwork of programs for other Americans. Insurers were made to accept all applicants without charging based on pre-existing conditions or demographic status (except age). Young people were allowed to stay on their parents’ insurance plans until they were 26 years old. Insurers are forbidden from dropping policyholders when they become ill. Preventive care, vaccinations and medical screenings cannot be subject to co-payments, co-insurance or deductibles. Insurers must spend at least 80–85% of premium dollars on health costs.

In addition, employer health insurance programs are indirectly subsidized by taxpayers, a result of massive tax breaks for the employers.

End it all and let the invisible hand of the free-market decide!! If you cannot afford health care for your children, do not have children! If you cannot afford long-term care, don’t get old!

But let’s be honest. Most of our healthcare spending is… drum roll… on seniors! Healthcare utilization (and costs) skyrockets after 50, escalating rapidly with aging. Nursing home care for old folks is largely paid by Medicaid, the VA and long-term care private insurance. Back in the good ol’ days, old folks would live with their younger family members until they passed.
