“Rights” Groups Sue For Boat Strike Justification Memo

These American rights groups never miss an opportunity to defend foreigners, but, I wonder, would they do this if Biden or Kamala were president? Actually, yes. They sued Obama multiple times for drone strikes in foreign nations which killed American citizens who were fighting with ISIS and al Qaeda. Because groups like the ACLU are nuts

Rights groups sue administration for release of memo justifying boat strikes

A group of civil rights advocacy organizations filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the Trump administration, seeking the release of a legal memo and other documents related to lethal U.S. military strikes on boats suspected of trafficking drugs from Latin America.

The complaint alleges that the nearly two dozen boat strikes carried out since September are illegal and that the public deserves to see how President Donald Trump’s administration has justified them. The strikes have killed at least 87 people.

“The public deserves to know how our government is justifying the cold-blooded murder of civilians as lawful and why it believes it can hand out get-out-of-jail-free cards to people committing these crimes,” Jeffrey Stein, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union, one of the plaintiffs, said in a statement Tuesday.

The ACLU, the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. According to the complaint, the groups filed a freedom of information request with several federal agencies on Oct. 15 seeking the release of a legal opinion from the White House’s Office of Legal Counsel. The Washington Post reported that the memo argued the country is in a “non-international armed conflict” with unspecified “drug cartels.”

Last time I checked, none of the drug runners were American citizens. Certainly not citizens of the State of New York. None of them have Constitutional rights. The whole thing is wild that Liberals/Democrats are hanging their hats on defending foreign drug smugglers.

Saying drugs are not bad because Trump is blowing up foreign drug running boats is a hell of a take.

If you ever get to foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy Philadelphia, be sure to visit the Kensington neighborhood, around the SEPTA train station at Kensington and Allegheny Avenues, under the El. You’ll see the junkies sleeping on sidewalks, on people’s front stoops, laid out against storefronts, and the decent people in the neighborhood, the ones who can’t afford to get out, living in fear and filth and disgust, because nothing can be kept clean or safe around an open-air drug market so notorious that the Mexican government used images of it in their campaigns against drug use!

Former Mayor Jim Kenney just let it fester, while current Mayor Cherelle Parker Mullins has made some efforts to try to clean up the place, but has been fought in her efforts to do that by the ‘harm reduction’ people, people who in their oh-so-well-intended efforts to reduce harm to the junkies have instead transferred the harm to the innocent neighbors.

The junkies are now in a major health crisis themselves, because the dealers have been cutting heroin and fentanyl with the veterinary tranquilizer xylazine, street name tranq, which was never approved for use in humans, and has resulted in open, festering, and non-healing wounds, and many amputations.

Tranq does have the unfortunate effect of cutting into their customer base, so now the dealers have been substituting another animal tranquilizer, medetomidine, also never approved for human use, and which causes severe withdrawal symptoms, which pushes the junkies to even greater urgency to buy their next fix. Yet our good friends on the left want to defend the drug suppliers!

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Commenter typed: “…our good friends on the left want to defend the drug suppliers”

But, but, illegal xylazine and fentanyl are manufactured from ingredients received from China, NOT Venezuela.

For whatever reason, Donnie and his MAGAts prefer to video missiles blowing up boats in international waters carrying cocaine while ignoring the much more serious fentanyl (and now xylazine) problem. It’s not a coincidence that the Ministry of War releases videos of the missile strikes! It’s political theater to distract from Donnie and the MAGAts true objectives in Venezuela.

Yet our good friends on the right want to defend the Chinese drug suppliers! And Big Donnie inexplicably pardoned major drug kingpin Juan Orlando Hernández, former President of Honduras, who was serving a 45 year prison sentence in the US for importing hundreds of tons of cocaine into the U.S.! Prosecutors asserted that Hernández had received millions in bribes from drug traffickers, including $1 million from “El Chapo”, leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel. Donnie believed the convict’s claim that he was framed by President Biden.

Why no missile attacks on Chinese ships?

The commenter mocks the pitiful drug abusers that Donnie is trying to “save” with his televised missile attacks! How hypocritical.

“A significant proportion of drug abuse involves self-medication, where individuals use substances to cope with underlying physical pain, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, or trauma, rather than seeking professional help, though this behavior often escalates into full-blown addiction, notes American Addiction Centers and Frontiers. Studies show many who misuse drugs or alcohol report using them for pain relief, and this pattern is common for mental health issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, turning a coping mechanism into a substance use disorder.”

No doubt, the commenter disagrees that drug abuse is a health issue, preferring the approach that it’s a military/police issue.

Likes to believe that all problems are caused by “them”
The states that have the highest rates of death by overdose? Prescription opioid use?
    southern states and Appalachian
Alabama has the 2nd highest opioid dispensing rate

“We have met the enemy ana it is us”. Pogo

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

William should make it clear. Donnie is blowing up boats (supposedly) carrying cocaine from Venezuela to the U.S., Suriname and Europe. Fentanyl and methamphetamines are MUCH larger problems in the U.S. than is cocaine. The majority of these “cocaine deaths” involve the co-use of opioids, especially illicitly manufactured fentanyl, which is a major driver of the rising death toll.

Donnie is scamming you once again.

  4. James Lewis says:

    A.S.S.

So you have no solutions, just whiny complaints.

Come on, what would YOU do to fix the problems??????????????

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      J.I.M.B.O.,

Drug abuse is a complex healthcare problem!

Please read: “A significant proportion of drug abuse involves self-medication, where individuals use substances to cope with underlying physical pain, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, or trauma, rather than seeking professional help, though this behavior often escalates into full-blown addiction, notes American Addiction Centers and Frontiers. Studies show many who misuse drugs or alcohol report using them for pain relief, and this pattern is common for mental health issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, turning a coping mechanism into a substance use disorder.”

How about having a comprehensive healthcare plan in ADDITION to our police efforts. Why are persons trying “to cope with underlying physical pain, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, or trauma” alone?

One commenter here often says to just let addicts die, but also promotes military interventions to stop the drug trade!!!!

  5. Wylie1 says:

Just how much money do the democrats receive from the cartels?

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

How much money does Fat Donnie, Mob Boss, make from the cartels? He pardoned the former President of Honduras convicted of bringing hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States. “El Chapo” was captured during Fat Donnie’s 1st term and made to forfeit over $12 BILLION!! Fat Donnie does nothing unless he’s paid.

Fat Donnie says every cocaine boat he sinks on TV saves 25,000 Americans lives! Yet, total cocaine overdoses (usually in combo with fentanyl) “only” kill about 25,000 a year.

Our Mob Boss-in-Chief has bombed 23 boats so far saving some 600,000 America lives!!!

On the other hand, “only” about 105,000 Americans die from drug overdoses each year – 75% of those from opioids (e.g., fentanyl). Are Donnie’s bombing also curing cancer and heart attacks, LOL?

  6. drowningpuppies says:

It’s absurd that crime is a threat to the safety of Americans. (Dem logic)

    More splodey boats please.

  7. James Lewis says:

    Ellie

Yeah, a plan would be nice.

But saying that doesn’t make a plan.’

    Produce.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Jimbo,

The RePUBICunts have the House, Senate, White House, Supreme Court. Perhaps they have a “concept of plan”.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Jennie,

Shouldn’t we try to reduce the demand for drugs? Did you miss the part about people self-medicating? Since your president is mentally ill, perhaps you believe all people should be.

His m/billionaire buddies like Elon and RFK Jr are drug addicts but it’s easier to hide when you’re super rich. Not all Americans have the luxury. Elon, Donnie Darko and RFK Jr can afford the “good stuff” and don’t have to worry about their “therapeutics” being “cut” with dirty fentanyl.

Rather than the inconsequential fireworks show in the Caribbean why not do the hard work of expanding the healthcare system here in the US? You know why not? Because the president, Senate and House don’t care.

Blowing up boats on the seas gives the diminished MAGAts a boner for a while.

  8. Jl says:

“Donnie does nothing unless he’s paid….”Wow-good catch! The guy worth between 5 and 7 billion dollars needs to be paid. Oh, well-he gets paid through his salary. Wait again-he doesn’t take a salary..

  11. Ed Brault says:

The use of vice to undermine a society is not new. SF writer E. E. “Doc” Smith used drugs as a major plot point in his “LENSMAN” series, specifically the drug “Thionite”, a drug so powerful a few grains gave the user an orgasmic mental state where EVERY desire was realized. Addiction was usually immediate and users would die of dissipation or overdose soon after. It was so dangerous that the Galactic Patrol was ordered to destroy harvesters, producers, smugglers, and dealers (collectively known as Zwilniks), without trial. Possession was its own death sentence. The drug had no legitimate use, was simply a tool to undermine Civilization.

I would put Fentanyl in the same class.

  12. Elwood P. Dowd says:

“Fentanyl” is more potent against the mu-opioid receptor than morphine. It is also more selective with lower affinities for the other opioid receptors, thus it has fewer off-target side effects. There are several fentanyl “similars” with high potency, selectivity and lipophilicity (“lipid-loving”) characteristics. Their lipophilicity allows for more rapid brain uptake, and likely contributes to “fentanyl’s” receptor potency. Importantly, “fentanyl” is more resistant to naloxone (NARCAN) displacement than other opioids such as heroin and morphine. Medically, approved by the FDA in the 1960s, fentanyl is the most widely used opioid in hospital settings.

Fentanyl is entirely man-made from chemicals rather than derived from plants, eliminating the need for farming, harvesting, and processing time. It can be made “on demand” with an unlimited supply of source chemicals. Precursor chemicals from China and India are shipped to the U.S. and Mexico where “fentanyl” is manufactured and distributed.

Suppliers of illicit drugs often “cut” their expensive heroin and cocaine with cheap fentanyl to increase profits, but also the lethality. Capitalism at its worst!

Venezuela supplies cocaine, responsible for about 10% of U.S. drug deaths.
