Rich Folks Very Concerned Immigration Raids Are Hitting Country Clubs And Upscale Shops

Do Democrats just see illegals/fake asylum seekers as cheap labor?

And that is actually one of the least offensive

Border Patrol’s Charlotte sting reaches into country clubs, upscale shops

The gourmet pasta shop surrounded by million-dollar Colonials might not be the most obvious spot for clues about how hundreds of U.S. Border Patrol officers have swept across this city in recent days.

Pasta & Provisions, a longtime local favorite in the Myers Park neighborhood, is more popular among well-to-do bankers who populate the city’s soaring financial office buildings than with the working-class immigrants who flocked here to help build that skyline. There is little Spanish spoken outside the shop’s kitchen.

But as armed federal agents in unmarked SUVs poured into North Carolina’s largest city, the store was not immune from the Trump administration’s targeted immigration enforcement operation that launched Nov. 15. (snip)

The effect on George’s business is emblematic of how the Border Patrol operation has rippled across the lines of race and class that have long divided this city, spilling into tony neighborhoods where many residents gave little thought to how President Donald Trump’s deportation push would affect them.

It’s a real shame that the Elites won’t have all these folks to cook for them and wash the dishes

As authorities have searched for them, federal officers have raided a local country club, stopped by at least two hospitals and been spotted on highways and roads across Mecklenburg County, which includes Charlotte. (snip)

Pockets of the city’s Eastside, typically filled with fruit vendors and tamale stands, were noticeably empty. So were construction sites in the “wedge,” the triangle-shaped section of Charlotte with the highest concentration of White and affluent residents.

Huh. Affluent.

One woman told her children’s caregiver — who arrived in the United States from Mexico without authorization nearly three decades ago — to stay home as the enforcement operation began.

She should be arrested for employing an illegal. I bet she pays below market value.

The reach of federal operations into upscale neighborhoods was exemplified by reports that Border Patrol agents had entered the Myers Park Country Club, an invitation-only, century-old institution with opulent grounds that include an 18-hole golf course and an Olympic-size pool.

Did the WP really think this was a good line, that we need illegals so the affluent can be taken care of?

    Are you suggesting that the main customers of the tamale ,stands are your despised elites?;

Wow that Trump economy must really suck down there if the wealthy are eating street food .
It looks like those raids are having a really big impact in the economy.
About 13% of the population of NC is foreign born with 2/3s of them unauthorized. They have an even higher % in the research triangle area. NC does give driving licenses to non citizens. According to ICE in September 60000 “illegals” were in detention
In Nov 65000. Trump in total will have increased the number in detention by about 25000 per year
    Meh
90% of those detained are released in 3/4 days because they must go before a judge before being deported. It is only an Immigration judge that can determine if they are deportable.

Construction economy grinds to a halt in Charlotte
Business leaders unhappy. They need workers

Hey, with Starbucks on strike, the construction sites can hire former baristas to become construction laborers, where they’ll make more money. Don’t knock it: that’s how I picked up many of my skills.

Nothing stopping Jayapal from taking in a few gangbanging drug dealers. Let her pay to have them here. I’m tired of democrat ideas others have to pay for.

Democrats still using the arguments from the 60’s. Many crops are grown and harvested by machinery today. Most of America’s fresh vegetables and fruits are grown in Mexico and South America. So, if those immigrants are needed to “pick out vegetables”, we should send them home where they can do that.

Looks like a very successful operation with the arrest of over 370 individuals over a five-day period, primarily undocumented immigrants with criminal records.

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Finally, William proposes to arrest an employer of undocumented workers! As long as it’s a Dem.

But what about the golf resort owners, the meat packing plant owners, the Honda dealership owners, the farmers, the contractors etc.

Don Piggy got rich from employing the undocumented (well that, and at least a billion from his daddy).

    Puppy boy
90% of those arrested or detained are released immediately
Remember it takes a court order to determine immigration status.

Socialism in NYC spreading fast can’t be stopped
The Bronx where I live has begun putting in free food vending machines stocked with fresh fruits and veggies plus eggs and beef steaks
The veggies are all hydroponically grown in the Bronx as part of the urban farming initiatives
Google for pics!! Personally I do not need it I always have money leftover on my EBT and OTC and are also restaurants and markets that accept them for hot and cold food, like Whole Foods Life is good! The Trump agenda is fizzling like a bottle ticket not “skyrocketing”

Hittin’ that hookah again, johnnie boy?

Most individuals arrested or detained by ICE are not held for long periods; many are released quickly, often within days, especially if they do not contest their deportation. However, the exact percentage can vary based on specific circumstances and locations.

Approximately 70% of individuals detained by ICE have their custody end within the first month.

On a typical workday, about 1,500 individuals are detained, with around 600 being released within three days.
The average national detention time for those released is 31 days, with a median of 11 days.

      Please remain stupid. You’re hilarious.

johnnie boy: The Bronx where I live…
has one of the highest crime rates in New York City.

There were 4,935 reported robberies in 2024.

The Bronx saw an increase in shooting incidents, with 324 reported in 2024, marking a 6% rise from the previous year.

Felony Assaults have reached their highest levels since the 1990s, indicating a troubling trend in violent crime.

Yeah, a great place to live. LOL
