Victoria Sorocean was taken into custody in Los Angeles on Nov. 4 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after authorities learned she had been convicted of premeditated murder with exceptional cruelty in 2013.

Sorocean was first arrested by ICE on Jan. 10, 2020, under the first Trump administration, but she later filed multiple legal appeals and asylum claims to delay removal, DHS said.

Officials said she was ultimately released back into the U.S. in 2022 under the Biden administration.

Missouri’s own senior senator, Josh Hawley, falsely claims his phone was “tapped”, a lie repeated by the right-wing media and various and sundry acolytes. The phones were not “tapped”. Jack Smith requested telephone records only – who was called and when – related to the trump insurrection.

++++The spending bill approved as part of the package the Senate advanced Monday night to reopen the government includes a provision that would create a legal pathway for senators to sue the government if their phone records are investigated without their notice.

What’s significant is the language in the bill appears to be retroactive, meaning that the eight Republican senators who had their phone records subpoenaed by special counsel Jack Smith as part of his investigation into Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election could seek hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.++++
