Chicago Area Federal Judge Apparently Thinks She’s In The Legislative Branch

Under what federal statute does she have the authority to interfere and demand oversight over legally authorized immigration operations?

Judge intensifies oversight of agents in Trump’s Chicago immigration crackdown

A U.S. judge on Tuesday intensified her monitoring of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in Chicago, requiring a top official to appear daily in court and ordering his agency to detail the use of force by its agents including firing tear gas at protesters and bystanders and to hand over body-camera video.

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis during a hearing chastised Border Patrol commander-at-large Gregory Bovino over his agency’s actions in the third-largest U.S. city and told him to get a body camera to wear himself. Ellis had summoned him to appear at the hearing after he was seen on video last week tossing a tear gas canister at protesters during an enforcement action in a neighborhood with many immigrants from Mexico.

The judge is presiding over a lawsuit challenging the legality of the tactics used by officials carrying out Trump’s Chicago crackdown called “Operation Midway Blitz.”

Really, all this is is a method to jam up immigration official, keep them from being able to do their jobs, and she keeps adding more and more on the pile

The judge’s order required the agents to wear visible identification and restricted their use of anti-riot weapons such as pepper balls and tear gas. The judge subsequently required federal officers with body cameras to turn them on while conducting immigration enforcement and during interactions with the public.

Ellis on Tuesday ordered Bovino, who also played a lead role in Trump’s immigration crackdown in Los Angeles over the summer, to come to court each weekday at 6 p.m. before a November 5 hearing to discuss the day’s immigration enforcement operations.

The judge also told Trump’s administration by Friday to hand over its reports on the use of force against protesters and bystanders in Chicago and corresponding body camera video dating to the beginning of the operation on September 2, and to provide this material going forward for any future instances.

I’m placing my money on Ellis creating a new hearing sometime in late December with more restrictions, like she’s making up legislation. And the more she does this the more the Trump admin will go after illegals in Sanctuary City Chicago. He’ll surge more federal agents. Trump loves when judges go rogue, because, sooner or later, a higher court will shut Judge Pro-Illegals down, and, perhaps at some point Ellis will be charged with violating federal law as it pertains to helping illegal aliens.

It’s simple: she doesn’t like our immigration laws, the laws duly passed by our elected representatives in Congress, and effectively supported at the ballot box last November, so she’s trying to add every stumbling block she can to prevent enforcement of those laws.

“No one is above the law,” said by both Barack Hussein Obama and Letitia James, apparently applies only to Republicans and conservatives, not illegal immigrants.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

It’s simple. A US president is the supreme ruler of the land and everyone should abide by and follow their orders.

Even more than our dancing president in Korea, Congress is AWOL and feckless. Our judges are all we have left.

Should the masked, unidentifed goons/thugs have to identify themselves as federal agents, not use tear gas, not abuse persons? Seems a low bar. They have already kidnapped nearly 200 American citizens and locked them away for days, because they “looked” illegal.

Heavens! Why are the goons/thugs afraid of wearing body cameras?

MAGAts hate limits on their actions.

Should duly sworn agents of the government be able to defend themselves while performing their duties?
