NY Times: Minneapolis Shooter’s Motive Is A Total Mystery!

The motive is pretty much right there in the headline and subhead

Minneapolis Suspect Knew Her Target, but Motive Is a Mystery
The shooter who attacked a Catholic school on Wednesday posted social media videos and writings that betrayed a litany of grievances and obsessions.

For one thing “she” is a guy. Transgender. Crazy

The person who the police say opened fire on a Catholic school in Minneapolis on Wednesday appears to have known the school well.

Robin W. Westman, who officials said strafed the church through the stained glass windows, killing two children, was believed to have once attended the school at Annunciation Catholic Church, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation.

Her mother, Mary Grace Westman, worked in the business office of the church for five years before retiring in 2021. And in a video posted on social media, the suspect showed a hand-drawn rendering of the Annunciation interior.

And Ms. Westman, armed with three weapons, seemed to choose the time carefully. She barricaded the doors during the first all-school Mass of the academic year, the police said.

But it is hard to fathom what drove Ms. Westman to attack before killing herself, despite the dark and violent writings and videos she left behind.

Well, his original name was Robert.

On social media, some conservative activists have seized on the shooter’s gender identity to broadly portray transgender people as violent or mentally ill. The police did not provide any motive for the attack, but Ms. Westman’s extensive social media history was a contradictory catalog of anger and grievance.

Are you sure we’re not pouncing?

In seemingly stream-of-consciousness videos that she posted, she fixated on guns, violence and school shooters. She displayed her own cache of weapons, bullets and what appear to be explosive devices, scrawled with antisemitic and racist language and threats against President Donald Trump.

The videos also show pages from a diary, with long entries describing self hatred, violence against children, and a desire to inflict harm on herself. The diary entries are almost entirely written in English, but using Cyrillic letters. A sticker in the diary displays L.G.B.T.Q. and transgender flags with a gun and the slogan “Defend Equality.”

Police said that the videos have been taken offline.

Maybe it’s a bad idea to take everything offline, because that creates more conspiracy theories. But, hey, anyhow, after all that the Times wrote they can’t figure out that Robert was nuts, hated Trump, hated Israel and Jews? Though, in fairness, it doesn’t explain why he attacked the Christian school. Other than being nuts.

Rest below the fold

(Breitbart) The transgender gunman who opened fire during a Mass at a Minneapolis Catholic School had a YouTube channel that contained his manifesto and vile anti-Trump messages.

A senior Trump administration official confirmed to Breitbart News that the now-deleted YouTube page belonged to the gunman. A video posted by the gunman showed the manifesto and all of the gunman’s weapons.

One of the magazines contained the words, “Kill Donald Trump.”

“Where is your God?” “Mashallah” and “Israel Must Fall” were among the words written on the gunman’s magazines and weapons.

Sounds like a typical unhinged Democrat. Mashallah means “as God wills”, and is usually used for a positive expression, but, was Robert dabbling with Islamic extremism because Minneapolis is overrun with Muslims and Islamic extremists, or, did he just hear it a lot in Minneapolis because the city is overrun with Muslims and Islamic extremists?

Back to the Times

The right-wing uproar over Ms. Westman’s gender identity echoed the politicized reaction to a 2023 mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, which was carried out by a former student whom the police said was transgender.

Good grief, they spend a lot of time on pouncing, eh?

(The Blaze) A hate-filled 23-year-old male who claimed to be transgender and said he had a “twisted mind” and wanted to die opened fire on a full Annunciation Catholic Church in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, killing two children and injuring 17 while fulfilling “a final act that has been in the back of my head for years.”

Robert Paul Westman, who had his name legally changed to Robin M. Westman in January 2020, left behind a handwritten letter, journals, a video, and a trove of information that serve as ample evidence of a deeply disturbed mind and soul, FBI sources confirmed to Blaze News.

Apparently recorded Aug. 26, a video allegedly posted by Westman to YouTube but later scrubbed after the shooting described a deeply depressed individual who had hatred toward the Catholic faith, President Donald J. Trump, Jews, and the children he was about to massacre with his rifle. (snip)

While asking his parents, family, and friends to “pray for the victims and their families,” Westman nevertheless dripped with disdain and anger, saying, “F**k those kids.”

Unhinged

In his goodbye letter and video, Westman said he has experienced depression and had thoughts of suicide and of committing a mass shooting for a long time.

As has been noted many times, Trans people have a much higher rate of depression and suicidal thoughts than the general population. Perhaps it’s a bad idea for teachers and parents to push them into the trans cult?

Evidence of Westman’s hatred of Catholicism was easy to find in his letter and video. He let out a demonic-sounding laugh when showing a depiction of Jesus Christ in a crown of thorns, pasted to the top of a paper target from a shooting range. Below Christ’s image was a caption that read, “He came to pay a debt He didn’t owe. Because we owe a debt we cannot pay.”

Lots more in the article. I’m guessing the NT Times forgot to do Basic Journalism 101.

We have always had individuals who are aggrieved, angry, mentally ill, hateful, ideological and even murderous. Why do they act? And why do they usually plan to die in the process?

Today, it’s easy, convenient and cheap to obtain weapons of mass murder. And almost all mass murderers use personal weapons instead of explosives or firebombs.

Charles Whitman was one of the earliest mass murderers, setting up a sniper nest at the clock tower at UT Austin. In 1966, he used a hunting rifle to murder 15. Whitman, a Marine, had been physically abused by his father and at autopsy, a brain tumor was discovered. He had complained of abnormal instrusive thoughts. Before the shootings Whitman stabbed his mother and wife to death to “spare them the embarrassment of his actions”. Police shot and killed Whitman at the scene.

BTW, the transgendered are much MORE likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators. Women are much less violent than men for some reason.

Had Robin Westman experinced hatred from catholics or christians that contributed to her rage? From the right-wing and MAGAtism?

This wouldn’t excuse her murdering kids, but could contribute to her mental illness.

For whatever reasons, mass murders tend to be primarily an American problem. But why?

Had the murderer been taking hormonal transitioning drugs?

Might be a better Rimjob question.

Stop trying to blame this on other people, shithead.

In the space of 33 words, our savant from St Louis used four separate words to push the narrative that the killer was really female.

Of course, Mr Dowd wants to push the notion of contributory blame onto normal people, on Catholics, other Christians, and, of course, conservatives and Trump supporters.

The left would have been absotively, posilutely overjoyed had the killer been a white male Republican wearing a MAGA hat, but when it turned out that he wasn’t, the next best thing for them to do is blame the shooting, to the extent they can. on white male Republicans wearing MAGA hats.

Tranny murderer claimed he didn’t want to transition anymore.

No wonder these people attempt suicide at an alarming rate. No wonder they seem terminally angry and sad and manic and depressed…sometimes all at once! We have allowed a psychological disorder to govern its sufferers, instead of treating that disorder and attempting to bring their behaviors back into the range of normal or common or simply functional.

  5. Dana says:

In the movie Troy, Achilles is portrayed talking to his mother, trying to decide if he will go to Troy to fight. His mother tells him that if he stays in Greece, he will find happiness and love, but that three generations hence, his name will be forgotten. If he goes to Troy, glory will be his, but his glory rides hand-in-hand with his doom, and he will never return from Troy.

A lot of these idiots want to die, but apparently figure that if he kills a bunch of people as he’s committing suicide, at least for a few moments, we’ll all know who he is.

We always want to know the reason for an unreasonable act, but sometimes there’s no comprehensible reason at all, no reason which makes any sense to any sane person. Sometimes the reason is that they’re just plain nuts.

She was nuts and filled with rage, as most mass murderers are. The majority of US mass murderers are caucasian males as Mr Dana well knows.

How would Mr Dana suggest society keep these types of firearms out the hands of the enraged, hate-filled crazies? In a study of mass shootings between 1982 and 2019, the majority of assailants (87.5%) had misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated or undiagnosed and untreated psychiatric illness. Most of the assailants also experienced profound estrangement from families, friends, and classmates. Would stiffer background checks help? Or is this really not a problem?

The US experiences the majority of these events. Only a few are committed in other wealthy nations. Are we just more violent than the rest of the advanced world? Do our young people see more violent movies and video games?

The US has the least restrictive firearm laws in the world, but since more guns = fewer crimes, that cannot be a contributing factor. Anyway, as Mr Dana points out all the time, the mass murder of schoolkids is but a tiny percentage of US murders, therefore only important if an LGBTQ person or Muslim is the murderer.

In 2023, the US had some 47,000 firearms deaths – 27000 suicides, 18000 homicides, 500 accidental, 600 police shootings, 400 undetermined. The intentional homicide rate in the US was 5.8/100,000 population, by far the highest rate of all the advanced nations! Canada = 2.3, Israel = 1.6, France = 1.3, Spain = 0.8

But the availability of semi-auto firearms makes us safer!!!

Our oh-so-accepting liberal from left of the Mississippi wrote:

She][sic] was nuts and filled with rage, as most mass murderers are. The majority of US mass murderers are caucasian males as Mr Dana well knows.

Yet, curiously enough, the majority of all murderers are black males. This shooting killed two people and injured 17 more, while the last ‘mass murder’ in the City of Brotherly Love, which killed three and wounded 12 more, isn’t really called that because multiple shooters were involved as a block party transformed into gunfire, with shell casings from 13 different weapons.

How would Mr Dana suggest society keep these types of firearms out the hands of the enraged, hate-filled crazies? The Minneapolis killer should have been legally barred from purchasing a firearm the moment he admitted to being mentally ill in a legal document, which he did in 2019 when he applied for a legal name change due to the reason that he “identified” as female.

But for the vast majority of people? The Second Amendment is very explicit, and the Fourteenth Amendment allows the suspension of an individual’s constitutional rights only following due process of law. As someone who keeps shedding tears over Kilmar Abrego Garcia, saying that he is being denied due process, we know how very concerned you are that all people receive due process!

Thus, we really cannot deny those who do not have criminal records or legally adjudicated mental illness of their right to keep and bear arms, until they have already committed a crime and been apprehended. A free society does have to bear increased risks.

The US experiences the majority of these events. Only a few are committed in other wealthy nations. Are we just more violent than the rest of the advanced world? Do our young people see more violent movies and video games?

The other wealthy nations are primarily ethnically homogeneous, though idiotic open immigration in Europe is changing that, while we are multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-cultural. Being that, yes, we have different ethicities, different races, and different cultures tolerating internal violence differently.
