DHS Ending TPS For Hondurans And Nicaraguans

This is horrible, right?

You know what’s monstrous? People on “temporary” status since 1998, just chilling in the U.S. This might be more compassion worthy if this CBS article, and other articles, featured any people working hard and stuff, instead of living off the teet of the American citizens

U.S. to revoke Temporary Protected Status for immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua, putting them at risk of deportation

The Trump administration said Monday it will soon revoke the legal immigration status of more than 70,000 immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua, its latest effort to curtail humanitarian programs that allow foreigners to stay in the U.S. temporarily.

The Department of Homeland Security said it would terminate the longstanding Temporary Protected Status programs for Honduras and Nicaragua in early September, paving the way for those enrolled in the initiative to be at risk of deportation unless they have other legal means to remain in the U.S.

Roughly 72,000 Hondurans and 4,000 Nicaraguans — many of whom arrived in the 1990s — have work permits and deportation protections under the TPS policy, according to the official termination notices published by DHS on Monday.

Really, all they need to do is not renew the TPS, because the current 18 month stretch ended July 5, 2025.

The TPS policies for Honduras and Nicaragua were first created in 1999 (WT-it started on Dec 30, 1998), after Hurricane Mitch devastated parts of Central America, causing catastrophic floods and killing thousands.

In the official termination notices, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said TPS for both Honduras and Nicaragua was no longer warranted, arguing that conditions in the two countries had improved significantly and that they could receive their nationals.

Yeah, that hurricane was quite some time ago, so, yeah, things are better, and it’s time for them to return home. Those who wanted to become US citizens had plenty of time to attempt to do so.

Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada said the termination of TPS for Honduras and Nicaraguans would separate families and hurt U.S. businesses.

“These families have been here since the 1990s, working hard and contributing to our state and country for decades,” Cortez Masto said. “Sending innocent families back into danger won’t secure our border or make America safer.”

What danger? The hurricane was last century. Did CBS ask her what the danger was?

(DHS) “Temporary Protected Status was designed to be just that—temporary,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “It is clear that the Government of Honduras has taken all of the necessary steps to overcome the impacts of Hurricane Mitch, almost 27 years ago. Honduran citizens can safely return home, and DHS is here to help facilitate their voluntary return. Honduras has been a wonderful partner of the Trump Administration, helping us deliver on key promises to the American people. We look forward to continuing our work with them.

After conferring with interagency partners, Secretary Noem determined that conditions in Honduras no longer meet the TPS statutory requirements. The Secretary’s decision was based on a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services review of the conditions in Honduras and in consultation with the Department of State. The Secretary determined that, overall, country conditions have improved to the point where Hondurans can return home in safety. Additionally, under President Castro, Honduras has taken steps to welcome home their citizens, providing access to economic and food assistance programs, as well as labor integration and job training.

Democrats would prefer the permanent underclass of people brought in who can do menial labor.

Anne Frank was an illegal immigrant.dhe had her citizenship revoked by a legally elected government.dhe was turned in by a law abiding citizen and deported

      Thanks, Johnny-hairy-smith-A

Who cares about Anne Frank? Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt Germany and died in Bergen- belson concentration camp in Germany. She doesn’t sound like an illegal immigrant to me. Her citizenship was never lawfully revoked. In fact she was executed by the Nazi regime as a traitor, not a spy.

Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1929. In 1934, Frank and her family moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands after Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party gained control over Germany. The 12 yr old Frank WAS stripped of her German citizenship in 1941 for being a German Jew living outside of Germany, and became stateless, i.e., “illegal” everywhere. Despite spending most of her life in the Netherlands and being a de facto Dutch national, she never officially became a Dutch citizen.

Her family was arrested after hiding in Amsterdam for 2 years and deported to Auschwitz death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. All children under 15 were sent directly to the gas chambers there, but Frank had just turned 15 and was spared. As Russian troops were liberating Poland, Frank and her sister Margot were deported to the Bergen-Belsen concenration camp in Germany where she died, probably from typhoid fever, just a couple of months before the camp’s liberation by British forces.

There is no evidence she was executed. She was sent to the concentration camps for the crime of being Jewish under Nazi occupation.

To correct the commenter: Anne Frank WAS stripped of her German citizenship. Anne Frank was NOT executed. She was neither a traitor nor a spy – her crimes were being Jewish and hiding from the Nazis.

Mr teach slurs working class labor as “menial”. Contruction, landscaping, agriculture, auto repair and hsopitality work, while not as meaningful and important as auto sales, is still necessary.

It’s a myth that immigrants exist on citizen’s taxes. But MAGAts primary tool is promoting mythology. Immigrants are violent. Carry diseases. Are lazy. Take more than they give.

If immigrant were a net benefit to society, no one would care if they were illegal.

If the obama and the Susan Rice administrations had not gone overboard flooding the USA with people from the third world, the pendulum swing back wouldn’t have been this severe. Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.

During the period these TPSed immigrants were here, the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House in 2009-2010, 2017-2018, and 2021-2022. They could have ‘regularized’ the status of these immigrants, and could have changed our immigration laws, but they didn’t.

During the 2021-2022 period especially, when the Democrats knew that there was strong support for kicking the illegals out, and knowing that the 2022 elections could once again take away their trifecta majorities, they were more interested in impeaching a President who had already left office, investigating January 6th, imprisoning the Capitol kerfufflers, and locking up Donald Trump, and did nothing concerning immigration. Instead, they watched the dummkopf from Delaware practically open the border and encouraged more illegals to come here, because they are just f(ornicating) stupid!

With the 2022 elections, they lost control of the House, and in 2024 lost control of the Senate and the White House. The oh-so-sympathetic Democrats could have changed our immigration laws to help the illegals, and they didn’t, so guess what has happened.
