So, What Happens To Iran’s Nuclear Material If There Is A Deal?

Good question

As Iran talks get underway, expert raises alarm over lack of plan to secure nuclear material

European and Iranian negotiators ended their talks in Geneva, Switzerland, Friday without a clear breakthrough, but diplomats told The Associated Press they were hopeful of more discussions with the Iranians.

The talks with Iran come a day after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a message from President Trump, stating, “Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks.”

One former Pentagon official says there is an important issue that is not being discussed.

“If Iran gives up its nuclear program as Trump has demanded, there’s another problem we’re not talking about, which is how do we get all the nuclear material outside of Iran,” Michael Rubin, an American Enterprise Institute senior fellow, told Fox News Digital.

The US doesn’t want boots on the ground in Iran. Who trusts the UN and International Atomic Energy Agency?

Rubin said he would nominate India to seize the nuclear material.

“They are trusted by the Americans, they’re trusted by the Israelis and they’re trusted by the Iranians. But we need to start not only being reactive, but also proactive,” said Rubin

Obama’s Iran deal supposedly saw Iran give up 25,000 pounds of enriched uranium, and a promise they wouldn’t make more. Which, of course, they immediately started making more. And, while Trump pulled out of the deal, because it was terrible, the other members didn’t. Well, except for Iran, which never had any intention of following. Biden put the US back in, and still Iran broke the pact.

Meanwhile

White House monitoring possible Iranian ‘sleeper cells’ in US: Source

As the Iranian supreme leader threatens “irreparable harm” if the United States joins Israel’s fight, the White House is warning of so-called Iranian “sleeper cells.” The Trump and Biden administrations have long been concerned about Iran’s ability to direct or inspire attacks within the U.S.

Sleeper cells are spies or terrorists who operate in the U.S. and Western countries and remain inactive until they are essentially ordered to act. Experts who have spoken with NewsNation said should the U.S. join Israel’s strikes against Iran, they may try to activate these cells.

A recent U.S. Department of Homeland Security threat assessment concurs, saying that the intelligence community expects Iran to remain the primary sponsor of terrorism and continue its efforts to advance plots against individuals, including current and former U.S. officials. That assessment echoed similar guidance from Biden’s Department of Homeland Security in 2024. Experts say given the recent escalation between Israel and Iran, the possibility is very real.

I wonder how many were brought in by the Biden admin and/or let in after they were caught illegally crossing the border?

Obama’s Iran deal supposedly saw Iran give up 25,000 pounds of enriched uranium, and a promise they wouldn’t make more. Which, of course, they immediately started making more.

While the deal required Iran to reduce its enriched uranium stockpile, it did not entirely prohibit Iran from enriching uranium for civilian purposes.

Following the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018, Iran began to violate the agreement by exceeding the limits on its uranium stockpile and enrichment levels, according to the Arms Control Association.

As of May 2025, Iran is enriching uranium to 60% purity and has a significant stockpile of enriched uranium, including some nearing weapons-grade purity.

This increased enrichment and larger stockpile have significantly reduced the “breakout time,” which is the estimated time needed to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for a nuclear weapon.

The IAEA has also reported that it has been prevented from satisfactorily monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities since February 2021, according to The House of Commons Library.

    Mr teach mistakenly (dishonestly?) typed:

Biden put the US back in, and still Iran broke the pact.

President Biden absolutely DID NOT “put the US back in” the JPCOA. Trump pulled the U.S. out and instead applied economic sanctions to which Iran adjusted and re-started enrichment.

    • Doom and Gloom says:

And now for the rest of the story.

The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency for those reading comments and unaware of acronyms)was unable to go to many of the facilities in person to inspect each operation to determine what if anything was being violated. In addition the IAEA had to rely on its verification by watching video of it’s operations provided by IRAN.

The Radical Islamists of Iran built at least ONE DOZEN gigantic operating sites around the country to fuel their benevolent intentions.

One only has to look at the eerie silence coming from the Middle East over the bombing of all of IRAN’S proxies and then the taking out of Irans Nuclear facilities to understand that the MIDDLE East Muslim countries HATE, loathe and despise Iran, HAMAS, Hezzbollah and the Houthi’s. Iran has driven the Middle East insane.

HEll even Egypt built a giant WALL to keep Hamas out of it’s own country.

The left continues to pick the wrong side and fight the wrong battles. But that is what happens when you let in millions of Middle eastern radicals to any nation. Just look at the UK issuing a threat to Israel after being attacked by its own people inside its own borders….quickly learning these were IRGC radicals.

Insanity rules the world. Trump just wants everyone to make money, the rest of the world wants to CONTROL its population for its own pocketbooks, not for some benevolent reasoning that makes any sense to all but the most dictatorial elements of our society.

    Lol
Iraq has consistently voted in favor of Iran’s right to enrich uranium.

Still think that ear helped the USA’s national security?

  3. Dana says:

It’s actually pretty easy to deal with the enriched material: simply mix it back together with unenriched uranium.

Of course, the easiest way to deal with it is for Israel to destroy it all.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Easy? Not if all the facilities are destroyed.

      David Frum:

Trump enjoys wielding power. He flinches from accountability. Days ago, Trump seemed to hunger for entry into Israel’s war. A dramatic victory seemed poised to tumble into somebody’s lap. Why not his? But as the hours passed, Trump reconsidered. Instead of acting, he postponed. He said that a decision would come within “two weeks.”

Time for diplomacy to work? Perhaps that might be the case in another administration. In this one, as attentive Trump watchers have learned, the “two weeks” promise is a way of shirking a decision altogether, whether on Russia sanctions (deadline lapsed June 11, without action), trade deals (deadline lapsed June 12, without result), or a much-heralded infrastructure program (deadline lapsed May 20, 2017, without action then or ever).

      What Iran might do:

Step 1: Absorb the Israeli strikes, as painful and humiliating as they are.

Step 2: Mobilize Russian President Vladimir Putin to dissuade Trump from military action.

Step 3: Agree to return to negotiations if Trump forces a cease-fire on Israel.

Step 4: Dawdle, obfuscate, and generally play for time.

Step 5: Reconstitute whatever remains of the Iranian nuclear program.

Trump won’t act without Putin’s input or even permission.
