This is Vermont
Homelessness in Vermont has increased — and towns are responding differently to the problem
An extremely tight housing market and soaring rents. The end of the pandemic-era eviction ban. The tightening of eligibility for Vermont’s emergency hotel housing program — which led this summer to hundreds of people getting kicked out of rooms. These factors are contributing to a dramatic increase in homelessness in Vermont, which has the second highest rate of homelessness in the country. The increase has forced some municipalities to confront homelessness, which is new for some towns.
Vermont is having a big problem with homelessness for American citizens. Yet
Vermont passes law to boost housing access for migrants
Community members came together to celebrate a new law going into effect in Vermont that aims to make housing more accessible for Migrants.
On Friday, Migrant Justice hosted a celebration on the statehouse lawn in honor of Gov. Phil Scott signing off on S. 127. The bill requires landlords to accept one of the following:
- An original or copy of an unexpired government-issued ID
- An individual tax identification number
- A Social Security number
Before this law passed, Olga Cruz, an immigrant from Mexico, said immigrants in her community often faced discrimination because they did not have a Social Security number.
How about all those citizens in Vermont? Any concern for them?
As immigrants face fear and turmoil nationwide, Cruz said this is a needed win for her community, but that the work is not done.
“This fear isn’t going to stop us, you know, we’re not going to let the fear and uncertainty keep us from fighting for what’s right and demanding our human rights,” she said.
The Trump admin should also prioritize all these community activists who are unlawfully present in the U.S. Let them take their little brand of activism back to their home country. But, there is one place they can be housed
Leavenworth prison to reopen for migrant detentions amid opposition
Leavenworth, Kansas, occupies a mythic space in American crime, its name alone evoking a short hand for serving hard time. The federal penitentiary housed gangsters Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly — in a building so storied that it inspired the term “the big house.”
Now Kansas’ oldest city could soon be detaining far less famous people, migrants swept up in President Donald Trump’s promise of mass deportations of those living in the U.S. illegally.
The federal government has signed a deal with the private prison firm CoreCivic Corp. to reopen a 1,033-bed prison in Leavenworth as part of a surge of contracts U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued without seeking competitive bids.
Good. Let them sit there while waiting for their “due process”.

The only solution to illegal immigration is to stop being oh-so-nice-and-sympathetic, and to start being [insert plural slang term for the anus here].
From Jesus’ mouth to Mr Dana’s ear!! Oh, that’s right, American Catholics no longer recognize Jesus.
Ironically, most of the hated immigrants are Roman Catholics!!
Does Mr Dana believe that Mr trump is not asshole enough? Mr trump tried kidnapping and trafficking them to an El Salvador concentration camp in one fell swoop, but was guilty of trafficking some legals and the courts said “hold your hosses, hoss”.
Then 10 million Americans protested his methods. And that’s just for starters.
The only hope for the MAGAt movement is to halt the Mid-term elections when the normals will sweep the House and may even take the Senate.
The odds right now are at 50-50 that trump will declare a national emergency and ‘postpone’ the elections.
He now wants to send federal forces into major U.S. cities and clear out the “illegals”. For a few days it appeared that trump was going to leave the rural, red state “illegals” alone but he (ahem) changed his mind and wants to deport farm workers, hospitality workers and meat processers (only the workers, not the execs who hired them to save millions for themselves and the investors).
This is Amerika!!
Perfect…
From Biden’s dog sniffs a whole lot of malarkey.
Bwaha! Lolgfy Rimjob!
It seems like Vermont needs to deport some unlawful residents to make room for lawful ones. This will have added benefit in lowering rent prices and taxes.
9 out of the top 10 states that have the highest per capital homeless rates are deep blue homeless, people with mental health issues floch to them because they know they will receive more support there.
The states with the lowest ? All the very poorest red states.
Def not good places to be homess
