Great news for Catholic friends. There is a new Pope. Your days of slacking off are over. There is a new boss.
Don’t bet on it. He’s spent most of his life outside the US.
Pope Leo XIV (Cardinal Robert Prevost) has criticized Trump’s immigration “policies” and JD Vance’s ranking of love.
Prevost was born in Chicago, but spent years in Peru ministering to the poor. He is both a Peruvian and U.S. citizen. Pope Leo is an Augustinian, as were Martin Luther and Gregor Mendel (a great scientist).
He said he wants to take up where Pope Francis left off. “We have to be a church that works together to build bridges and to keep our arms open, like this very piazza, welcoming.”
This Pope is considered a scholar, with a BS in Mathematics, and has a Master of Divinity degree from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. His Doctor of Canon Law degree is from Pontifical College of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese, and reads Latin and German.
Said Forty-$even, “Having a Pope from America was a great honor”.
There’s a countdown to when 47 will take credit.
The new Pope is a registered Republican.
I am reliably informed that the Vatican is it’s own country. As the leader of that country and permanent resident there, for the rest of his life, I would not expect this pope to be casting any ballots in American elections after this. Granted this is a pretty unique situation.
