The UN has always wanted an independent source of money to steal without needing to beg from member states. They learned a long time ago that every time Republicans get elected, Americans start auditing their theft and turning off the faucet. Climate change is just their latest effort to achieve that. The problem is that Americans can just veto whatever the UN votes to assess against the US and even if Democrats agree to it, unless it is presented as a treaty to the Senate, the next Republican in office can cancel it.
