…is an area flooded by carbon pollution Bad Weather, you might just be a Warmist
The blog of the day is Vox Popoli, with a post saying Ukraine must surrender. (doesn’t mean I agree, it’s simply an interesting point)
Ukraine surrender has been the rational choice for a few years now, but the Ukraine war has been irrational since it started. The interesting thought experiment has been, so what if Ukraine doesn’t surrender? How long does this slow national death go on? What is the expected outcome if the current situation continues?
At what point do the Ukrainian people rebel against the government that forces them to continue?
At what point does the Ukrainian government rebel against the EU regime that forces them to continue? Do the Russians ever grow tired of killing their brothers in Ukraine and just go home?
Do they really think that waiting out the Trump administration is a viable option?
Do they really think that declaring a policy of “no negotiating with Satan/Hitler” is a viable strategy and better than a negotiated settlement?
I don’t know the answers to all those questions. I would like to see the war in Ukraine end because it is a humanitarian crisis that serves no purpose. At some point, even the neocons have to accept that they were wrong and they need a new hobby.
The Russian invasiion of sovereign Ukraine can end today. Putin can withdraw. He started it, he can stop it.
The civilized world could make it more difficult for Russia to continue its criminal behaviors but China, India and other nations depend on Russian gas and oil. For reasons known only to him, trump refuses to cross Putin. Possibly a video of trump and a 13 yr old Russian girl. Or two.
Mr trump is a paper tiger against Putin. Putin hit a U.S. company with two cruise missiles in western Ukraine this week. It was not an accident but a test. trump said he was “not happy”! I bet. There goes his Nobel!!
Should Mr trump sign an EO making it illegal for American companies to have overseas facilities?
Rebranding doesn’t always turn out well.
Right?
As for the hitting of the USA electronics company in Western Ukraine.
Flex Ltd. (previously known as Flextronics International Ltd. or Flextronics) is a Singaporean–American multinational manufacturing company. It is the third largest global electronics manufacturing services (EMS), original design manufacturer (ODM) company by revenue. Flex’s U.S. corporate headquarters are located in Austin, Texas. The company has manufacturing operations in over 30 countries, totaling about 172,000 employees.
Not the sort of company Trump is going to war over. A multinational from Texas that pays no state income taxes, has many corporate benefits from the state of Texas and does 90 percent of its business overseas with Chinese Ties, but enjoys the protections of the United States.
The real issue for Ukraine is that Trump has been warning and threatening NATO since 2016 that they would rue the day they cozied up to Russia and depend solely on the USA for protection while they embarked upon authoritarian socialism at the cost of any version of a military capable of collectively defending themselves from almost any invasion.
Nato, of course as we know, did not listen. They thought the problem was gone when Trump lost and the left embarked upon a hit job on Donald Trump designed to imprison him or make him unelectable in 2024.
Now the bill has come due. Nato is threatening and blustering and bending the knee to Trump who has shown that he will not defend NATO due to the constraints put in place by his MAGA base as well as his own personal penchant for making money no matter the bed partner’s sins.
Sins for Mr. Trump are but a thing to be discarded in lieu of profits. His thinking is steeped in monetary benefits, while all of Nato and Russia are obsessed with the Politics of power.
Never the twain shall meet or at the very least come to a working arrangement. Donald Trump will not defend Nato, and Putin is proving this. Drone incursions over several NATO countries. The arrival of two more brigades in Kaliningrad and now a beligerent Belarussian president and key Russian officials threatening Nato ahead of a very large build up of forces all along the Nato/Russia border for a military exercise.
In the meantime Trump threatens India and alienates most of the nations that would fight alongside the United States in times of war. Even Australia which has a trade deficit was hit with punitive tariffs by Trump for little to no reason whatsoever, further alienating that leftist country from America’s supporters.
Trump has blinders on and believes he can bully the world with economic might. For most countries this works. For Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and increasingly India. Not so much.
Asking Putin to withdraw from Ukraine when Russia and China are now the worlds superpower aided in a large part by ever increasing membership in BRICS because the USA has no coherent foreign policy other than economically threatening everyone. Well that is never going to happen and every conversation with Putin by Trump is a comedy that Saturday Night Live has unleashed on the world.
