Will it be in fun ways?
How would AI actually ‘kill all humans’? Here are the top five most likely scenarios
Earlier this month, artificial intelligence researcher Jacob Coxon resigned from Anthropic after just four months. In an announcement on X, he stated: “The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade.”
A senior member of Anthropic’s staff, Evan Hubinger, actually agreed with Coxon, adding he personally thinks the chance of this happening in the next decade is more than 10%.
So, are we dying by ‘climate change’ or AI?
I’ve distilled these scenarios down to the top five, ordering them roughly from most vague to most precise. And I’d argue the list is also ordered from least to most probable.
1. We’ll never know: AI doomers often justify their concerns by means of an annoying catch-22 paradox: how can we possibly imagine what a superintelligence might do to take out less intelligent beings like us?
2. Paperclips: A classic example of such indifference comes from Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom’s imagined superintelligent AI that has been designed to optimise paperclip production. To produce its preferred form of office supplies, it quickly converts all available matter – including humans, planets and stars – into paperclips.
What we have here is the perfect execution of improperly specified objectives. The AI doesn’t hate humanity; it simply recognises we’re composed of atoms that could be better utilised for paperclips. It’s not personal.
3. Bioweapons: Humanity could be killed by a superintelligent AI making and releasing some dangerous new bioweapon into the atmosphere. This is, in fact, one outcome of the AI 2027 scenario by the AI Futures Project, a non-profit dedicated to forecasting the impacts of advanced AI.
4. Nuclear war: What if AI got into the nuclear command and control chain and started a nuclear war? We’ve come close to nuclear war by mistake several times in the past 50 years. (yeah, we saw the movie)
5. Other humans: Perhaps the most likely risk is that we take ourselves out. And AI might precipitate this.
There’s more to each one, but, you get the gist. We’re doomed!
AI leaders warn UN of security risks as systems grow more powerful
The world’s leading artificial intelligence companies warned the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday of the risks posed by AI to humanity, appealing for governments to work together to manage the increasingly powerful technology.
Yes, these same big companies ahead of most who want “guardrails” to limit the up and coming companies. You know, money. If they’re so concerned then why not limit their own companies? They can, in fact, right software, right?
Battle of Hospital A.I. vs. Insurer A.I. Is Pushing Medical Costs Higher
In the latest sign that artificial intelligence is fueling higher health care costs, a group of insurers released a report Thursday claiming that hospitals’ use of A.I. was responsible for nearly $1 billion in additional expenses over two years.(snip)
“Coding is changing because of this technology,” said Luke Chalker, a senior vice president at the association. By describing patients as having more complicated conditions and adding a secondary diagnosis, like anemia or low sodium, the hospitals were paid an average of nearly $12,000 more per case.
Well, they know about this, so, they can simply say “no, stop.” And software designers can change code, right? Because that is all this is. Code. It’s not sentient. But, the news likes doomy stories.

I’ve distilled these scenarios down to the top five, ordering them roughly from most vague to most precise. And I’d argue the list is also ordered from least to most probable.

None of those things are likely. AI is not a self-aware artificial entity with goals of it’s own in competition with humanity. It is just computers and software doing what they do best: repetitive tasks over and over, faster than humans. We already have AI in almost everything and the worst thing it is doing is creating terrible internet content. The political class suddenly wants it regulated because the meme wars are damaging them tremendously. AI forgets nothing. It is harder for lying politicians to lie and win elections. The Data is now available to everyone for the asking. Even cherished data-driven scams like global climate change is now within the reach of regular people to see the live data and have AI crunch it for them… in minutes. Big Data, universally Left-controlled, has been modifying search results for decades to bury Right wing positions, stories and opinions. They want total control over AI so that it cannot be used to change the narratives that the political class and leftists want and have worked so hard to create. AI can create videos of politicians doing ridiculous things (beneficial to lying political candidates). And it can expose those AI videos as fakes (damaging to lying political ads). The value of curated narrative information is dropping to near zero. CNN, the big three networks and even Fox are losing viewers and ad revenues not just because people don’t trust them, but because it is obvious the value of the information isn’t worth the time it takes to watch them. The Left and the establishment want the old days back when they controlled the signal.
There is zero chance that AI will do anything harmful to humans at all… unless you are a leftist politician or one of their friends with connections. And that is why you are seeing ridiculous stories like the one above. They NEED AI regulation so they are making up ridiculous lies about it to justify that regulation. None of those people cared about this when they were building 6000 data centers. Now, suddenly as if they woke up and read a common set of marching orders, they are all on board repeating the same ridiculous lies.
Commenter typed: “There is zero chance that AI will do anything harmful to humans at all…”
That’s comforting!!
There is absolutely zero chance that any human would program a computer to benefit themselves at the expense of others.
There is zero chance that an enemy government or terrorist organization would design and distribute a deadly virus.
There is zero chance that a super intelligent computer in the hands of a terrorist nation such as China would cyberattack any US infrastructure systems.
I thought that Skynet already killed us all in 1997.
