Trump blames Canada for wildfires, but scientists point to climate change
President Trump and other Republicans are blaming Canada for wildfires whose smoke has choked parts of the U.S. in recent days. Experts from both countries told The Hill that climate change is the real culprit.

“We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable!” Trump wrote on social media last week.
“This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars, which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying,” he added.
On Sunday, the president again floated tariffs over the fires, saying, “If we can help them, we’ll help them. But maybe they should pay us some damages or something, or we should do some tariffs.”

Meanwhile, wildfire experts from both sides of the border said this week that Canada’s forest management practices are not to blame, and that in reality, climate change is driving conditions that make wildfires more frequent and intense.
Experts described many of the fires as being in a remote, difficult-to-access part of Canada, meaning they go unmanaged but added that’s not abnormal. (snip)
“It’s very natural for these forests to go through fire cycles … these forests periodically do burn, but the burning and the fires today are much more severe because these super-annual variations in dryness are much more amplified because of changes in climate,” he added.

Nope-NASA satellite data shows US forest area burned by wildfires since 2002 has remained relatively the same. No reason Canada would be that much different. Also, the US Forest Service says almost 85% of all wildfires are started by humans and/or lighting strikes. So there’s really no way of knowing that a cause could be “climate change”, or that it just could be more careless humans and/or more lightning strikes

You make the same “mistake” that the Teach cult makes. You don’t address the extent, severity and rapidity of the burn. The issue is not the cause of ignition (although tinder IS more ignitable when drier). Although ex-MAGAt Marjorie Taylor Green did make the case for Jewish Space Lasers starting fires.
Some HAVE made the argument that the new prediction markes (like Kalshi and Polymarket) COULD increase igntion events. “I bet $20K that a wildfire will break out in the Lake Tahoe Basin 8/01/2026!” LOL
Not really-you make the same mistake made by warmunists everyday. Because there’s allegedly more of something must mean it’s “climate change”. Again, correlation without known causation. But as said earlier, it could be more careless humans and-or lightning (and there are more humans around). There’s absolutely no way, with the knowledge we have now, of being able to say for sure.
“Extent, severity and rapidity of the burn..”. Obviously those factors can be caused by drought, not just a slightly higher temperature. They’re using attribution science-which is simply as educated guess.

Plus, the IPCC in its 6th Assessment Report, under the climate impact driver category, listed “fire weather” as “low confidence in direction of change”

I have seen no physical proof of global warming, just weather trends. I do a lot on boats and watch the weather reports closely. In a 36 hr period the synopsis can change as many as 6 times and still it rains on me when they called for sunny skies. If the “experts” can’t get tomorrow right.
I guess that I qualify as an expert as well.
