Hawaii Overcomes Citizens United!
Unlike typical campaign finance regulations that have been struck down by federal courts, SB 2471 uses a unique legal strategy:
The law rests on the principle that the state, as the entity that grants corporations the right to exist, has the authority to define and limit their powers.
Instead of regulating political speech, the bill clarifies that the “artificial persons” created by state law are no longer granted the power to spend money or anything of value to influence elections or ballot measures.
The legislation is designed to remove corporate and “dark money” from every level of Hawaii’s elections while preserving the political rights of individual human citizens.
The problem, of course, is that Repubicunt state legislators rely on dark money to finance their perfidy. It’s the lower level state-level plotocracy.

Of course this will force up beef prices for US consumers, but under CAPITALISM profits and shareholder value are what are important. Not low consumer prices.
We can always import cheap beef from Brazil’s Amazon.
