Ice Cores Show Modern Warm Period Is Unremarkable

Hey, if ice cores are good enough to extrapolate DOOM!!!! for the cult, it’s good enough to blow their doom out of the water like an Iranian ship

New Study: Ice Core Data Shows Modern Warming Is Statistically Unremarkable

There is nothing unprecedented or even significant about modern warming magnitudes or rates. [some emphasis, links added (WT: not mine, article’s)]

Antarctic ice cores are routinely used to represent not only global-scale CO2 records, but also global temperature records over the last 800,000 years.

Interestingly, if we compare modern Antarctica to paleo Antarctica, we learn “no continent-scale warming of Antarctic temperature is evident in the last century.”

A new statistical probability analysis (Hatton, 2026) using Vostok temperature data indicates the reported 1.1°C global warming over the last century (since the 1920s) is “not even unusual” within the context of the last 20,000 years, as “16% of the centuries since the end of the last Ice Age show a rise at least as big [1.1°C] as the current century.”

As current warming rates are “quite commonplace,” this calls into question the push to attribute temperature changes to human activity.

I personally will not discount anthropogenic causation to a point, as I have always maintained. Some small measure from greenhouse gasses, then you have land use and Urban Heat Island effect (both of which have a pretty big nighttime effect), air pollution which can limit radiative cooling at night, and siting temperature monitors incorrectly. Warming of about 1.6F since 1850 is no big deal. We wouldn’t see pauses if it was all from YOU driving a fossil fueled vehicle, it would be a continuous rise.

But, the cult doesn’t care about science, because it’s all about forcing authoritarian government on everyone, and the peasant level Warmists do not seem to understand that this will effect themselves.

Over the last 14,500 years (145 centuries) the Earth has warmed 5 degrees C
The last century it warmed 1 degree C or 20% of the total warming over the last 145 centuries.

That seems like we are going through an unusual rate of change

The explanation of the end of the is because of a change in orbit. That is not happening now. Teach can never give a reason for it happening now.
The “heat island effect” urban areas represent about 2% of the land mass which is 20% of the planet surface. 2% of 20% is 0.4% urban
Teach wants us that this less than 1/2 of 1 % is somehow significant to be causing this current increase.
And of course within that 1C rise this century 60% of that tide had vine in the last 3 decades.
“The Ice Age” itself is poorly understood but it was not global in extent. It was regional covering m a lot of North America and Europe but missing many other places like Alaska

It certainly affects the locations in which temperatures are measured, and how measurements from the same places as a hundred years ago will compare to measurements today.

Bluegrass Field in Lexington, Kentucky has not moved from where it was in the 1960s, but the urban edge of Lexington has metastasized out Versailles Road toward the airport, and the vehicular traffic, and thus automobile exhaust, on busy Versailles Road has increased as well. Airline traffic at Bluegrass Field has increased as well, which means more jet exhaust. With the ‘official’ Lexington temperature readings being taken at the weather station at Bluegrass Field, is it any surprise that temps measured there might be slightly higher?

Science deniers like William and Mr Dana still claim that the warming data is 1) artefactual and/or 2) insignificant.

They’re wrong. As they are aware, the Vostok ice cores harvested from Antarctica are only one proxy of several used to estimate paleo-temperatures!

Pollen Records: Fossil pollen is used to reconstruct past vegetation communities and infer terrestrial temperatures, particularly for the Northern Hemisphere.

Marine Proxies: Ocean sediments contain foraminifera (microorganisms), plankton, and alkenones (organic molecules) that indicate past Sea Surface Temperatures (SST)

Ice Cores: Oxygen isotopes (O2) and nitrogen/argon gas isotopes (N, Ar) from glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica provide high-resolution temperature records.

Terrestrial Archives: Tree rings, speleothems (cave deposits), and lake sediments (e.g., chironomids) are used to track temperature changes on land.

Geochemical Proxies: “Clumped” isotope paleothermometry (measuring bonds between heavy isotopes in carbonates) allows calculation of ancient temperatures.

Anyway, one computer model rarely overturns a field.

Anyway, anyway, Mssrs William and Dana still deny that atmopheric CO2 is causing the Earth to warm! They deny that they deny, but dismissing the evidence is denial. Recall too, it was climate change skeptics, Tony Watts and Professor Richard Muller, who concluded the siting of temperature stations was NOT the cause of ‘apparent’ warming.

BTW, why is the heat content of the oceans increasing? Airport thermometers? The total volume of our oceans is approximately 1.335 billion to 1.37 billion cubic kilometers. That’s a lot of water to heat up! Why is it warming? The intermolecular bonding of water molecules results in liquid water having a “high specific heat capacity”, meaning it takes significant energy to warm. Water absorbs nearly twice has much energy for a kilogram to warm 1 degree C than most other liquids! Thank the gods for that. If the oceans were motor oil our increae would already by 4 degrees C!!! Our oceans are a great heat buffer.

So, has the Earth warmed about 2-2.5 degrees F over the past century or are these artefacts or outright fraud?
