Arrest made after man stabbed in chest on Charlotte light rail
A man was stabbed in the chest Friday evening on the light rail in Charlotte.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Brevard Street in the Eastway Division. The condition of the victim, identified as Kenyon Doble, in court records, remains unclear.
On X, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) said they identified Oscar Solarzano, 33, as the suspect. Solarzano was arrested shortly after the incident and is in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and being intoxicated and disruptive.
According to court paperwork, Magistrate Rebecca Howell ordered Solarzano held without bond, stating that he is in the country illegally and has been deported previously.
He was first booted out in 2018 under the Trump admin. Then crossed again in 2021 and booted by the Biden admin. And then he crossed yet again during the Biden admin. It would be interesting to know if he claimed asylum when he crossed and was given that conditional status, even though he 100% would not be eligible due to previous deportations, but, too many were flowing in under Biden to check.
(WRAL) His arrest warrant states that he entered a CATS railroad car and “contained things of value, with the intent to commit a felony.” The warrant also added that Solarzano was disruptive and intoxicated in a public place, and challenged the stabbing victim to a fight after cursing and shouting at others in the car using “unintelligible and slurred words.”
Nice guy. All the Charlotte news outlets smartly did not avoid or disguise the fact that Solarzano is illegally in the country, though, some skipped the info on him having been previously deports, as some Raleigh outlets did.
(Newsweek) U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Saturday lodged a detainer on the suspect in Friday’s Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail stabbing, Oscar Solarzano. Official court documents reviewed by Newsweek and local police spell the suspect’s last name Solarzano, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and some federal officials write it as Solorzano-Garcia.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a Saturday statement, “Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the county will honor the detainer since they have a history of not cooperating with ICE.” The agency has repeatedly called out “sanctuary” jurisdictions, criticizing some of not honoring detainers.
Mecklenburg County has been known as a sanctuary county, and certainly the main city of Charlotte has been one. However, North Carolina law requires all levels of NC law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, nor can judges decide to release the illegals after a detainer has been filed. No governmental entity in NC can play those sanctuary games. Sadly, even in a Southern state like NC, they might have even with a violent illegal like Solarzano.
So, previously deported under President Trump, but allowed to sneak back in by Joe Biden.
Our good and noble friend Mr Dowd, and his fellow traveler Mr smith², keep telling us that the vast majority of those arrested and detained for deportation have no criminal records. We haven’t been told whether Señor Solarzano has a previous criminal record, but the fact he is back in the United States means that he committed a felony, re-entry after deportation.
These are the people Messrs Dowd and smith² are defending!
